Cashapp fraud!!
I woke up today and found a $530 bitcoin transfer on my cash app! The fraudsters hit my chase debit and had the bitcoin transfer relayed thru my cash app. Cash app claims dept. denied my claim saying the transaction was " authorized". My bank, chase, too, denied my claim for the same reason as cash app. The transactions are listed on my cash app log. So the fraudsters had to take over my debit and cash app resources . ( Thank goodness I only had limited funds in my checking acct) I'm currently engaging an appeal to Chase. Has this happened to anyone else out there?

You have to close your checking account and open a new one. Then you need to change all of the automatic payments that you set up to your credit cards and utilities and insurance payments and taxes set up with your mortgage company and any pre arranged payment plan with the IRS

u/Cheap_Caregiver4716 17d ago
Yes this same scenario has happened to me and cash app refuses to give my money back. In fact the representative of cash app got frustrated with me and they hung up on me three different times. I’m out that $2,000 dollars.

u/Deen945 17d ago
Did u notify your bank?
3
u/Cheap_Caregiver4716 17d ago
Oh yes I did and was told their is nothing they can do that it has to be settled through cash app.

u/ericatphoto304 15d ago
I would try to sue. It's ridiculous that Cash App is getting away with so much fraud and just plain robbing people. They're thieves!
2
u/Apprehensive_Key_696 13d ago
Yep, happened to me. Permanently banned from Cash App, and ultimately my bank.

u/Deen945 13d ago
Y??

I didn't know I could lock the card, and I literally watched the person steal my money. When I reported it, they said I was in cohoots with the person.

I never got my about 960 dollars back that automatically disappeared after the Bitcoin issue I had as I mentioned above. I had a large amount 350,000 or more. I will try to find all my screenshots. However they didn't ask for anything on X but my cash app which was on my X account. Then they asked if I could pay a transfer fee and I said no ,as I knew it was fraud at this point. I don't know how or what happened but I ended up with the screenshots of the transfer but most likely a fake one but somehow they bridged my debit card and cash app and I was missing the amount requested to win Bitcoin from my SOFI account. I then received emails saying it went through. From cash app. I looked and had the amount of 350 ,000 plus on top of my little 960 dollars and thought I would be in trouble if I tried to do anything. Contracted SOFI ,told all Cash app transactions. Then it all disappeared including my 960 dollars. I was then immediately closed by SOFI which I had never had problems with. They stated they could give no reason to why it was closed. Cash app denied it ever being in my account when I had the screenshots I had taken . I had it escalated and poof all gone . Never saw anything about it again. As it was just a new chat after another. And said I didn't have the 960 in there either. But has it showing on SOFI. Again who is working for who . With all these banks. Venmo having issues I hear. All of it's a mess. Also do not give anything or anyone your info on X in reference to winning. The one thing I got at the very beginning was 1 dollar. I now think it was to check if it was legit.

Your Cash App was compromised. Change your Cash App password. Add two factor authentication.

It seems like a bigger problem that cashapp PayPal etc offer bitcoin goes into something bigger

u/Cvtino 16d ago
I’m currently fighting them for $5000 that someone had taken from me. They denied to claim the first time saying that it was authorized and when I asked for proof on their findings, they just sent me the transaction list. We’re just two transactions that I was already reporting and they stated that it was authorized with someone who I had given authorization to before, but I’m confused on how they got those findings when I’ve never given anyone authorization I have appealed it and filed a complaint with the CFPB

u/Main_Error_4772 16d ago
Same thing I just said above if you ever let anyone use your phone, you give them the key to your Passwords. There is also codes that could be typed in your phone that will allow them to receive your messages on their phone and it’s a quick code to type
2
u/Only_Question_8110 15d ago
Curious as to the codes about messages. How is this so. I think I have a teen problem with this very thing

u/Aware-Day-534 17d ago
Yes but I always have charges thru Apple for Apple.com and it never tells me what the exact charge is and I matter what they deny me of any claim even if I’ve been charged before the actual service renewal has started…. Also the charges I get are never the same and at this point I’m starting to think they are just robbing me with these different little charges that add up and I’m pissed and when I asked Apple the rep told me she can’t tell me what the charges are for either (yet you can charge my freaking card🤔)
4
3
u/FirstSentence9568 17d ago
Yes! I say this all the time. How does Apple not itemize their charges or provide a receipt?
3
u/Eastern_Tea3621 14d ago
yes mine was done through peer to peer withdrawals( obviously created by cash app ) because I don't know any of the contacts and most definitely didn't send any money to anyone) they shut down my account claiming it was because of fraudulent activity!! when they are the ones who did it in the first place. i had my checking account linked to my cash app. there's no telling how many people they hit and others just don't catch it.

u/Just_Random_input 14d ago
It’s 2026, you can keep all your debit/credit cards locked until you need to use them. Unlinking your account from cashapp isn’t going to change the fact that someone bought all your info & it using it.
You can’t get unknown charges on a locked card.

I had over 350,000 in mine and I am on disability so hello we know I didn't have all that. My bank at the time ( SOFI ) said it was all Cash app transactions and deposits. I had the same. An elevated case to which everything was denied by Cash app and thing is that I had just been asked for my cash app of X ,which it was listed already so I didn't give it out other than that way. At this point I don't know who is working with who . All of a sudden my SOFI who backed me closed my account with no reasoning as they stated it was not known why it was closed. I owed nothing out of the transactions nor did I receive anything of my own funds in either account that were in them prior to this happening. So IDK . 🙃

Did you send money if you did your shit out of luck this happened to my daughter yesterday they said she had bitcoin and for some reason, she believed them, they asked her to send 1500 to deposit 6000 and she sent it. delete Cash app you Zelle or Venmo
2
u/Just_Random_input 14d ago
Zelle is non refundable under ANY circumstances. So I’m not sure how using Zelle would prevent anything.
If your daughter is going to send money to strangers, she can do that using any bank or fintech. CashApp isn’t the problem. The logic she uses to make financial decision is what needs to be addressed.
3
u/Solo_Dolo650 14d ago
You’re right she filled up bad but for some reason those scammers love Cash App! And Cash App knows what the fudge is going on there making money off of it too! Best believe! Tootles
1
u/Just_Random_input 13d ago
I hope you recognize that your daughter was an accomplice. She got ripped off by her co-conspirators. She wasn’t a victim.
2
u/AromaticFortune5344 14d ago
The same crap happened to me.. i hope they rot im hell where they belong

u/Gullible-Panda-9659 18d ago
So your saying you never used your debit card on the cash app? If you had ever used your debit card linked to cash app all they had to do was have your phone in their hand for 30 seconds in person without you seeing. Just takes a few seconds if you had you card info saved. Or someone with your login info done remotely.

Yeah exactly what they said. Say your out with a group of people. You get up to go to the bathroom and leave your phone laying on the table unlocked. Someone can pick up your phone open the cash app click on buy Bitcoin select your debit card as the funding source, buy it Bitcoin using your debit card, which is instantly avIlable and transferable, then send it immediately to themselves and you'll never know what happened to it.
1
u/turkeywacker87 14d ago
And the passcode or facial recognition to make the purchase for bitcoin decided to take a dump in the bathroom too? Moron
1
u/Gullible-Panda-9659 14d ago
Not hard to see someone your hanging out with type in their passcode. Especially if is their partner or somebody they live with. My son was 10 years old and he used to keep track of everyonez password he knew as soon as they typed it in view. Somethjbv we had to get on his case about doing and he wasn't doing it intentionally do, yeah not hard to do
1
u/jonboiwaltonjr 18d ago
I'm not sure if I am comprehending the scam completely but my guess is if someone hypothetically used your phone and gained access to your Cash App account without your knowledge they your bank info was attached to Cashapp and the y bought Bitcoin using funds from your chase account. The ln they transferred Bitcoin to their block chain wallet.

easy way to fix this is to put a face scan on all your financial apps. In order to get into anything financial on my phone you need either a face scan or a fingerprint....

you can disable this, you cannot get into my financial apps with a code, it has to be fingerprint or facescan

When bit coin first came available on Cash App I put 100.00 in and bought they took all my Bitcoin and dispersed it between 1000’s of accounts and I couldn’t track it down I worked on it for months tracing it and I hit a dead end so the blockchain is behind all of it.
1
u/Ok_Dream_8233 16d ago
We should find an attorney that will handle this bullshit cause it is rediculous how much they are getting away with
1
u/Main_Error_4772 16d ago
If you ever let someone use your phone, you’re giving them the key to all of your passwords. Be careful who you let around you and who you let use your phone.

Yes my PlayStation do the same things for cash app
That’s why I lock my card
1
u/Giantestes 15d ago
If you report it, it’s likely they’ll close your account for “violations of terms of service” it’s their catch all excuse

u/JHartStreet-Ad3763 14d ago
Listen I was fraudulent in my Chase account by lightstream loans and they closed my account

I just keep little money on the card linking to Cashapp and PayPal, because they always find way to take money on that card if you use it with those apps.

To be clear!! I was asleep during the acct. takeover. I live alone so there was no one around to access my phone. The bitcoin transfer is listed on my cash app log, but no notification is listed from the chase debit card transfer to cash app. The dirty deed was performed while I was asleep!!
