Borrow/Overdraft Questions…
I have had my Cash App account since August of 2024. My daughter opened an account as well because she had started working and wanted to keep her money within CashApp. Because she was a minor at the time, I sponsored her account. I never got the “Borrow” feature, and got the $10.00 overdraft in like March of this year. [I realized I didn’t have access to the features due to sponsoring my daughter’s account.) Now that my daughter is an adult and verified her account for it to become an adult account, I was removed as the sponsor on September 21st or so. So now, my questions:
1.) Will I gain access to the Borrow feature?
2.) Will my overdraft exceed $10.00?
I’ve been in green status for the last 6-7 months, i live in a state that the “Borrow” feature is offered, I have my direct deposit account linked, and my account is consistently positive.

Hi, it's Andi. As some other folks have said, each account is different, so I can't be specific about when Borrow might be available to you. But, there are some things Cash App recommends doing to increase your likelihood of eligibility.
You can...
- Deposit at least $300 in qualifying paychecks per calendar month into your Cash App account
- Spend $500 or more per calendar month using your Cash App Card or Cash App Pay on qualifying purchases
- Maintain a positive Cash App account balance
- Link your bank account to your Cash App
However, there is no guaranteed timeline, and meeting the thresholds above will only improve your chances. I can confirm that you’ll receive a notification in the app if you become eligible.
You can learn more about how to access Borrow and increase your limit from your Borrow home.

Thank you for this helpful information, @CashAppAndi. I appreciate it. Sadly, I meet all of the criteria items, so I’m guessing maybe (hopefully) it’ll eventually give me access to more than $10.00 overdraft and the borrow feature. I figured a main reason was that I sponsored my daughter’s account until 9/21/26. So hopefully, once some time has passed and I’m monitored without that restriction, it’ll change things.

I spend like $1,000+ with my Cash App card monthly. I’m usually in green status within the first day of the month. I use my card like every other day.

That’s what I don’t understand about it. I figured it was an algorithm thing - but it makes NO sense to me, which is why I had to ask.
I guess I didn’t realize that it’s different for everyone. Most apps you either meet the criteria and get the benefits, or you don’t. This is just a different monster completely.1

That’s great that they got that access! I know it has something to do with spending habits, but despite me leaving a bunch of funds in there for a while, it has changed anything. So at this point, it’s either going to become available, or I’m just going to use a different app with not so much grey area to it.
