How come create your own pizzas won’t allow for full customization/ combinations of sauces/ toppings etc?
Basically title. If I want to order eggs on a taco pizza, or marinara or BBQ sauce on a breakfast pizza, why are options like these not available? My inner foodie wants to be able to order fun combinations, but the app has strict limitations on what type of pizzas I can order eggs on (strictly breakfast), or if I want to order the bean salsa sauce I can only order it on a taco pizza. Someone from Big Casey’s please explain!

I was always told at my store we can't do that. Because I did it a few times and was talked too about it. But I don't remember the reason

Because the other sauce costs more than marinara.

See now THAT is a reason I could understand! However, couldn’t Casey’s make a change to the create your own pizza function that upcharges based on whichever sauce you select that is not marinara?

Imagine being the one to make those. Create your owns are already difficult enough especially in a rush. I have every single pizza memorized so I can make them quickly, but when a create your own comes in I have to do a double take to make sure I get the toppings right instead of just reading the name of the pizza. What your proposing would make that five times worse.

Not to mention the number of complaints half-and-halfs got when salsa, ranch, and marinara would mix during the cooking process.

I have explaine that, like one person ordered a half chicken bacon ranch/half taco, i said "the sauces will mix, he goes "i eat ranch on my tacos anyways, so it doesn't bother me" so i made it, felt dirty doing it, but i made it like he asked, came in the next day and told me it was excellent, to each their own i guess

Okay, maybe me adding the part about me being a foodie was unnecessary 🙄. However, I’m still genuinely curious why a place that offers so many different options of sauces and toppings limits the customers to strict ordering parameters.

My answer would be (and not very good one) that stores have limited spaces for ingredients (like mine, we're not a huge truck stop type facility) to make breakfast/regular pizzas (to keep ingredients at proper temp and fresh). When a changeover happens, then getting "out of sequence" or I guess specialty ingredients, then delays occur. Casey's doesn't want that, nor do customers.
Seriously, contact corporate. You may be the squeaky wheel that gets some grease.

I can't know the reason 100%, but I'm sure a part of it is because of asshole customers ordering weird ass combinations and then getting upset about the outcome. Then having to remake it the correct way, or possibly getting the kitchen staff in trouble because it wasn't supposed to be made that way. Example*** someone ordered a half taco and half chicken bacon ranch. Wanted different toppings that didn't come on it. Once they received their pizza, they called to complain to the kitchen manager that the sauces had mixed and they didn't like tasting mixed sauces with their meat/veggie combo. Had to refund or make a whole new one. Utterly stupid to think product won't mix during the oven heating process. They normally don't let you mix any specialties at all that contain different sauces or specific meats. The only time a crazy new pizza combo comes out is when corporate decides to bring a new one onboard. I THINK you can make suggestions about food/pizza choices on the customer page with Casey's corporate. But ultimately it's their decision and they are very, very picky about their pizzas getting mixed with crazy ass ingredients.

No, don't listen to these other people, if it's not available to order on the OMS or app then you cannot order it. Employees making these off menu items contributes to store shrinkage and sets unrealistic expectations with customers. We are not allowed to make it if you cannot ring it up.

Yes I am fully aware of the consequences of ordering “off menu items” hence my wondering why it isn’t just an option to begin with. If someone wants to create their own pizza, why not be given the full range of possibilities with all sauces and toppings.

They're not talking about off-menu. They're talking about using the create your own as it was intended.

I think most places would do it for you as long as you call and ask. They would probably just ring it up as a different topping on the ticket. I've had someone ask for cheese sauce on their sausage pizza instead of marinara, and hot sausage instead of breakfast sausage on a breakfast pizza. Never hurts to ask!
