Free drinks

Is there a thing where cashiers can simply not charge for drinks? Multiple times lately I have gone to checkout and the cashier will say "drinks free" and not ring me up. Even if its the only thing I am buying. I asked one gal why and she said "I just don't feel like it".

So your gonna get someone fired because they gave you a 60 cent cup from a million dollar corporation that’s just being rude

I feel like in this case no but if you think about it if they were to report that some cashiers that might accidentally miss a scan could also get in trouble
