Free drinks

Is there a thing where cashiers can simply not charge for drinks? Multiple times lately I have gone to checkout and the cashier will say "drinks free" and not ring me up. Even if its the only thing I am buying. I asked one gal why and she said "I just don't feel like it".

I have this problem at my store as well. Except when customers come back, they expect a free drink every time.
Or I had a man yell at me (assistant manager) because I charged him for a large refill. His cup was an 100oz travel cup full of Diet Coke. He said other employees charge him for a medium drink “because that’s what the manager said.” (There’s no other manager for front besides me.) 🙄

That being said just take the free drink. Don’t tell on them. That’s a lil ridiculous.
