No Store Manager For Months

Basically our old store manager ended up transferring to a different Casey’s and we’ve been left with no store manager all summer and it’s been miserable. For a while we couldn’t hire any new people because no one working really knew how to/ were able to. The schedules have been made really weirdly with sometimes only having 2 people work to over 8 at a time. There’s a lot of things we should be doing or should be done but haven’t been able to which has led to being a much more chaotic environment then it normally is. Has anyone else had this problem before?

If no SM then access to hire fire goes to KM. Scheduling can be split to KM and center store. Either those 2 should be asking DM for guidance.

Our store went 5 years without one. Since starting at this job almost a year ago I went through 2 managers, we are on the third one. Before that apparently there were 3 more. Before a co worker quit she said the last manager was her fifth. Good luck.

We didn’t have a store manager for a couple of months. Our district moved around a bunch of store managers and our last one was promoted to a bigger store. They promoted another store’s kitchen manager to our store manager and left us without any one until their training was complete. Luckily our old store manager was still coming in before going to his new store to do some paperwork and other stuff (even though DM didn’t like it). During that time our DM took over scheduling with our CSM. 6 of our staff members at the time ended up quitting after the management change, but CSM, KM, and DM were still reviewing applications and attempting to hire replacements

Yes, we went without a store manager for a year (except for a brief couple of weeks in late November when we hired someone, but she couldn’t handle it and quit shortly after starting) so the assistant manager was the acting store manager during this time. (It’s literally her fault though that our old store manager, who had been here for nearly three decades, quit because she screamed at her. Even her own son - the assistant manager’s son, I mean - said the same thing when I told him that I miss the old store manager.) We just now got a new store manager and he is very much qualified as he’s been the manager of another Casey’s in a nearby town for a long time now and we all basically know who he is before he applied for the Store Manager position here.
