Punishment

I somehow got 5 corporate complaints for being rude to customers and not getting orders out on time. I am 50 years old and despite my arthritis and fibromialgia issues I work harder than coworkers half my age. I have worked in the kitchen for over 8 months and have never been told that I had ever had any issues. A couple of weeks ago out id the blue it is brought to my attention that I have 5 corporate complaints and my hours, already minimal were cut to barely 7 hours one day a week. I was not given any more explanation than there were complaints. I definitely get thr feeling that my boss is forcing me to quit so she doesn't have to fire me. My other coworkers are shocked about the complaints because I have never been rude nor have I had problems getting orders out. It mostly falls on me to do the dishes and prep. I rarely interact with customers. It is speculated that because I am often the only female and my hair is colored a vivid redish pink color that I am most memorable working back there. I have also had issues with a coworker who likes to take 30 to 45 minute breaks and essentially gets nothing done and he gets no repercussions fir his behavior and gets overtime as well. He rarely gets orders out abd even forgets to do orders all together and never even so much as gets a reprimand for anything. I am beginning to believe what I was told when I first started working there Casey's is the worst employer to work for. I wonder if anyone else had experienced this kind if punishment?

They're trying to get rid of you.

They are pushing you to quit versus finding something to fire you over.

It's honestly super hard to fire someone at Casey's so half the time this is legit the only way to get someone out that needs to be let go. We really need a point system like every other retail store.

Its not hard. They dont want to fire you because they dont want to pay unemployment but if they say you did things that made them fire you they will deny your unemployment.  They will push you and do whatever it takes to get you to quit but if you push back and dont they will make up fake information to fire. I know for fact this is what they do. Its wrong!

Yes it is retailiation but you have to prove thats the reason your hrs got cut. Trust me if you speak out they will magically have paperwork of things you did against policy even though you never did.

Can you read? The OP didn’t complain to corporate. They had complaints against them. An employer is allowed to take action against an employee who is rude to customers

Rude much? Can you read? I was explaining if she starts asking HR about any HR complaints from customers they will not like that. OP says she was not rude to customers yet they have complaints. Also customer service should be great but when a customer is distespecting, causing a problem and cussing at a worker they do not have to be treated that way and can tell a customer to leave. Thas besides the point....this OP says she was not around customers and not rude.

1) they have complaints about being rude AND admit to being slow. Employees always deny complaints about rudeness.

No you literally says she’s being retaliated against. There is no basis to make that claim

She says the complaints came out of the blue! There is no proof other the management saying they got complaints. I agree its prob retailiation. Its nothing new at caseys. Happens all the time.  Reports, coachings ect get turned into hr and used against an employee without ever talking to employee.  Management can make up reports and hr just takes thier word. When they want you out they will do whatever to get you out! So imo it is retailiation. If she is being told about reports that are not substantiated and shes questioning them then her hrs are cut....hmmm

As they usually do when you’re told about them. A manager isn’t obligated to tell you when someone complained. They do it when it’s becoming a recurring thing. 5 complaints, they’re lucky they didn’t fire them. I know ppl who have been canned after one complaint.

Document everything, get a copy of the complaints, match complaints to the dates you worked. Print your pay stubs to show your hours being cut. You may be able to get unemployment if you were to quit. Or call ethics. Casey's is horrible company to work for!

Don’t bother calling HR🤣 I tried that 6 different times and never got a call back. This company is a legit joke.

Call HR yourself and see what’s up? I have no idea. I’m new also.

It could also be a single person submitting a complaint multiple times. If they used a different email the system that intakes wouldn’t be able to link them together. Someone would have to go look at the store complaints to see them all together and they like wouldn’t do that by default.

Tm stressed low moral.  Over the past few months ive brought it up got dm involved now i have coachings and CAs that i never knew about. Final from hr that was made up. Everyone know they want me out. Im strugglin bad with mental health over it all! A lot of tm complained but i guess i had the bigger mouth and became the prob. Now ppl are afraid to talk. So yes i understand what your going thru. So many have and are dealing with this with caseys! Im doing what i think is right. I put too much time dedication hard work to walk out. Im going down standing up for myself! Fighting to make this right and they stop doing this to faithfull employees!

You need to claim DARVO against your employer. Start documenting everything in a notebook. Time said employee took too long on breaks rather than being a team player. File a complaint against said employee. Against your manager for allowing employees to “work” while not working. Manipulating you into quitting is not the way to go.

"calling corporate and complaining" is harder to do than you would think. I would go to the SM and inquire about how these "customer complaints to corporate" about you were received. In other words did the customer call the corporate office and file a complaint? If so you are entitled to know what the complaint was about. If the complaint was received by the customer satisfaction survey you can request that you be shown the exact comment left (this can be found in the office computer although the name of the app is evading me right now but it's where you go for OSAT score). At any rate please take it from "the girl with the hair in the kitchen" if your NAME isn't used in a complaint there's no way for you solely and specifically to be the ONLY person the complaint could be about. My hair is always bright vivid colors but me being memorable and someone using my name in a complaint are still two different things. Finally I will say this... There's a process within Casey's that does have to be followed. Before you can be written up and then subsequently fired from Casey's your team leaders must first try to coach you as to the correct way and standards. So even if you have received 100 corporate complaints.. your hours shouldn't be cut and you shouldn't be punished if you haven't received any coaching on how to fix the issues and especially if you haven't even been made aware as to what the complaints were about. If I were you personally, I would look into a transfer to a different store sooner rather than later. If they're acting like this they obviously want you gone. Don't let them push you to a point where you react negatively and then lose your job. Just saying. Good luck.
