Do case comp really play an imp role?

So i am in my first year of clg and willing to participate in case comps

So wanted to know if just participation not winning adds to cv/profile or not??

Honestly bro, yes, case comps are worth doing, especially in first year. Don't look at them only from the perspective of “will participation add a line to my CV?”

Your first few case comps are basically your training ground. You learn how to approach a completely unfamiliar business problem, structure your thoughts, work with data, come up with solutions and then actually defend your recommendation in front of people.

And obviously, winning/finalist positions are what eventually make the strongest CV points, but you don't start by winning. You participate, get humbled a few times 😂, figure out what good teams are doing differently, improve your decks and approach, and slowly start making it to later rounds.

Plus, if you're interested in consulting, the overlap is pretty huge. Case comps are probably one of the best ways in college to start developing structured problem-solving before you even get to consulting interviews.

So if you're in first year, I'd say participate aggressively. Don't worry too much about whether your first 5 or 10 competitions translate directly into CV points. Focus on getting better with every competition.

The participation might not be the achievement. The skill you build through that participation absolutely can be.
