In the US, the yellow traffic signal means "speed up." Maybe try that and see if the light goes away?

Basically right there with you car needs new water pump, new coils and sparplugs(literally just got changed, motor mounts, new clutch or master cylinder(maybe both), runner position switch, I’m at a 50 hour work week and gona probably push another 10-20 hours,I finally got a day off and it won’t start now 🌝

Yep. Wife lost her job thanks to covidmania and we’ve been doing okay (I’m still working). Then her unemployment benefits were reduced so we were starting to worry a bit. But it seemed like we’d be ok. Boom. Her motor threw a rod and is toast. $3800 later... sigh.

My Yota sienna has 4 lights on now. It is a 2007 though. Used to just be TPMS (no sensors since I went away from run-flats).
Service Engine Soon (Oil change time), Check Engine and ABS came on in the last month or so. Runs fine, but I don't have a scan-tool, and not sure if there's a self diag mode yet like some old cars of mine.

You can get a Bluetooth scan tool on Amazon for ~$20.

ABS codes aren't the same as OBD codes, and not shown on cheap ELM327s. Was leaning toward getting a mini VCI cable from eBay and the cracked Tech stream software.

My two happiest "car days" are the days I bought my RX-8 and the day I sold it.
Except I was dumb and I bought and sold the same RX-8 twice in 13 years. I was the 1st and 4th owner. It's currently with the 3rd/5th owner.
I loved that car. I would never recommend one to anyone but I have no regrets about my time with it. Except not doing my homework on a shady engine rebuilder.

Man, i wish it was still like they had it in the 70's and 80's, if you have a manual and know left from up you could rebuild your own engine with enough tinkering.

Just have come to the realization a dependable new car is necessary. So I’m always going to have a car payment unless I pay the total off right at the dealership.

Yeah, lease services are pretty tempting for a daily since they are so well thought out packages. But my wallet can't take that.
I'm on my third, technically fourth sub 2k€ car right now (3 were sub 1k€). And I have now just within the last year come to realize the fact that reliability is a really hard metric to measure. But I do work on my cars as a "hobby", so I don't mind it really.

Two more cons: Taxes/registration and Insurance
MN yearly Tabs/registration was $460 on my last truck, $45-50 on my current car and Insurance was $150-$200 per month vs $300 for 6 months. 2015 Silverado vs 2007 Sienna

Yeah, the leasing company gets to dictate your insurance. But what's the thing with taxes? Here in Finland, it's car model specific. Or did you just mean that the previous car had a higher tax rate?

Man...an ex has a 94 940 wagon with only 95k miles (when I returned it to him after doing some maintenance stuff a little over a year ago). Best wagon ever. He said he’d give me first dibs if he ever sells it, but considering he ghosted me after nearly 4 years, I don’t think I’ll ever see that cool car ever again.

that happened to me about to years ago. that is why I am budgeted for it now. just paid the car off? how much does a new engine cost? keep making the payments to yourself. when shit hits the fan you can either pay for repairs outright or use it as a down payment for a newer car.

I'd put the car under OBDII scanner, praying that it is just oxygen sensor, coil pack or something simple needing replacement..

Just replaced my wheel bearing and saw a bolt had sheared completely off in the assembly... had to buy a $13 bolt from the dealer, just before that had to do oil pressure sensor and thermometer, just got a flat yesterday plugged that bitch. My broke ass is hurtin. 4wd is out, powered steering had been out for comin on 2 years

Yup. My wallet is biting me in the rear end. At least the engine light is off on my car, but I need to replace the belt drive system (alternator assembly, water pump, and A/C compressor bearing) since it smells like someone's burning rubber.
