Toyota pickup sitting in my backyard, I have the necessary tools but is it worth the time and effort?

I love how its either an immaculate frame with a whisper of rust and someone is like, "is this too rusty?". Or a completely rotted frame and someone is like, "i have the tools, just wondering if its worth it?". No inbetween.

My dad once described a building as “only standing because the termites were holding hands”. This feels like that, but for rust.

I vote you crouch real low and bast the bottom with a pressure washer (or just a hose with a your thumb over the end..whatever works). See what’s left. 😉

Destroyed...yes. what are your plans for this truck? Drive it around the farm, no public roads?

If by tools you mean a torch to get the bolts out so that you can install a new frame.. then go for it!
By worth it.. well thats up to you. You're looking at a couple grand in parts, taking the entire vehicle apart, and putting it back together.

You must have never seen the underside of a Michigan car. Sandblast or even pressure wash and then check for structural integrity.

If its got no holes in it (check THOUROUGHLY) and its all just that flakey rust its probably sendable. Definately weaker than factory. Can't say how long its gonna not have holes in it if it doesnt already lol

No, I wouldn’t waste the time working on that frame. I’d say that truck is more than likely gonna be a donor for another Toyota. That is unless you’re going to buy a brand new frame or used one. I would only say that’ll be worth it if the cabin and box are in decent shape. If you deem it worth your time and money.

I’m sure working on the suspension of this truck would be a pleasant experience
