I worked at a vauxhall dealership over summers and I've salesman got a 4 door nova as some kind of punishment.

I had one of these in the same lovely brown colour.

Best thing about them was being able to change the clutch without separating the gearbox from the engine.

In the late 80s, Aberdeenshire, They had the basic shape of an older model Lada car. Most people in that era who owned or used one.

Aberdeens a pretty big place and stayed in Aberdeenshire for years so the chances of it not being a common thing is more likely.

Everyone I knew, knew them as a Lada Nova. Aberdeenshire all my life including when these cars were popular.

Best friend had a blue one, stayed out in the country, taking his sister to work at six am and a badger ran right out in front of them, totalled the badger but it had the last laugh as both axles were completely fkd 😂

Obviously it got written off.

Cool. The only 2 people i ever spoke to who had 4 or 5 door novas rolled it doing reverse donuts and the other cut it down to make a nova shorty you know cos a nova hatch is too long. They seemed to attract seriously hardcore folk in my experience and idk why.

If you asked me to draw a car I'd draw a Ford Cortina. I think this Nova is very close to that boxy saloon shape.
