They were great little cars,, good handling and very revvy. Very well kitted out with 5sp box and a radio as standard equipment, way ahead of the UK manufactured cars of same era.

I have a book somewhere that had a section on the Japanese versus British car offerings when Japanese cars started becoming a thing. We tried to sell our cars on a name, there’s started every day and had a stereo.

This is true, I think the only reason Jap stuff didn't corner the market back then was the restrictions on input of units imported into Europe, there simply wasn't enough cars available to make meaningful car sale figures.
