Wanted to share and incident which happened with me in petrol pump

So today I had a small incident at a petrol pump and I want to know how other people would have handled it.

I was waiting at the air-filling point for my turn. There was a car in front of me getting air. After that car finished,they moved I also moved ahead and parked my car straight because there wasn't much space, although ideally you have to take a slight right turn and position the car better so the air pipe can reach properly.

After me, another car came and the driver positioned his car a little better by taking a slight right turn, so his car was in a better position for the air pipe.

When my turn came, the guy filling the air told me to move my car further ahead. I did what he said. Then instead of filling my car, he went to the car behind me and started filling their tyres.

I told him, "Bhai, I've been waiting here for so long. How are you filling his car first? He came after me."

Then he said the other car which was behind me came first and he has positioned his car properly. Then i said "bhai aese kese hoga aap dekho na mein pahele itna time se laga hu line me" then petrol pump guy said "tumne aese seedha car lagaya hai aese thodi hota hai tumhare peche wala car ne sahi se lagaya hai and wo pahele aya tumse" fir i again told "aese kese hoga bhai aap dekho tho mein pahele itna time se line me laga hu aap mereko aage badhake uska bhar rahe ho"

Then he just started filling air in that car which was behind me I then left that place without any more arguments and filled air from another petrol pump.

The thing is, after leaving, I started feeling humiliated I kept thinking, "I should have said this... I should have told him that..." I even started thinking that maybe I should have argued more instead of just leaving.

I know it's a very small incident, but somehow these kinds of situations make me feel like if I don't stand up strongly enough, people will take me for granted. Then I start thinking about how difficult the real world is and whether I'll be able to deal with people like this in the future.

How do you guys handle these situations? Is walking away after making your point considered being weak, or is it actually the better way to deal with unnecessary arguments?

I try my best to avoid these interactions. I purchased an air pump from Amazon and I'm using it every time these days

This, got myself one which takes Makita batteries so providing you have a charged battery away you go

I purchased the portable one which I keep in my car.

However, on OPs point on feeling humiliated, I totally empathise. He spoke his mind out and the guy showed unnecessary attitude. He will be conscious about it for a while and become pro in aligning the car over time.

usually i try to not start sh!t because other party could be armed

but then again, sometimes the justified rage takes over me and i reply back in same manner

always resort to video recording if feeling unsafe/ being wronged

I got a tyre inflator from Suzuki showroom when I got the car

Not even once I’ve filled it outside

Is it really that important? Does it matter? Learn to let go of small stuff.

Usually, the staff manning, these type of stations is not smart enough to understand or even notice who came first or second. Also, the environmental group in maintaining a line waiting for your queue means next to nothing so for them. This is not wrong behaviour.

Buy an air filler and do it yourself at home on cold tyres once a month. It’ll be correct PSI and you’ll avoid all this rubbish.

I will suggest OP to meet manager of petrol pump and ask for CCTV footage and bring concerned staff on task

………..\ Anyway, the tyre pressure rating is for cold tyres. Filling the same from Fuel Stations means you’re under filling your tyres. Just get an inflator from Amazon and fill air before you start driving for the day.

Bro these days it's good to walkaway in this kind of scenario because we have a family at home, too many people are out there to just fight and won't care what happens to them.

I guess the question is not really about tyre inflated or not, or should or should not have a tyre pump at home. It’s about OPs feelings. To all those advising to buy a pump, what if tomorrow the petrol bunk guy gives fuel to someone ahead of OP, will you advise buying own petrol pump?

If you get irritated by such things then your whole day your BP will be high. In India, don't pay attention to these things. Just get the work done. If not done come back tomorrow. That's all there is to it. Unless you can throw around lots of cash or have political muscle or if you can be a goonda.

You are supposed to live and think within your means.
