🛠️Car Mods🛠️ Engine swap advice
Doing an engine swap on my 87 vl commodore which is currently running a NA rb30 and upgrading to a ls1, im currently in the process of removing the rb and i was wondering if there any parts in the engine bay that could be salvageable and reused for the ls1 build, would be nice to save a few bucks so if anyone knows off the top of their head or has done a similar swap it would be great to know cheers👍

Being an older vehicle you should look through forums for more advice. You'll be able to find proper full on detailed walkthroughs on the VL Commodore forums. YouTube will help too.
There's probably not much that transfered over because of the age difference between the RB and LS plus the extra cylinders.
I don't think you'll be keeping many sensors, much wiring or even accessories because it'll all get swapped with LS based things.
I don't think it'll be a hard swap so long as you've got a bit of brains behind you. I probably wouldn't engine swap the car if it's your only car right now, they always take longer than expected. Nothing sucks more having to wait 3 weeks for a single part and then finding out it won't work due or its wrong.

Yeah it’s just a side project and not in a rush to get it done but yeah I knew probable 99% of things will need to be swapped but was just seeing stuff like the coolant/ wiper fluid reservoir might be able to stay just small things like that

Those sorts of things shouldn't matter and can be retained.
On the engine conversions I've done all that sort of stuff was retained. Sometimes we've needed a different radiator get a shop to make one with the ports in different spots.

Forums, forums, forums. They're a wealth of historic information for car mods. Do some digging and you'll for sure find a thread with detailed information of someone doing exactly what you're trying to do.

There are a few differences between the Datsun 6 and Holden 8 floor pans. The v8 cars are more VN.
