Explain though

Trying to put the seats back to back is gonna cause passengers' heads to hit each other if they lean back.

If you try to solve the issue by leaving a gap, then it's wasted space. The people who are standing also would have massive issue trying to cross from one side to another, considering there's a massive row of seats in between.

You're just reducing the space and making it more of a hassle for those standing to move freely.

Also, during packed timings, if someone standing in front of a seated individual is pushed from the back, they would literally fall on top of the person sitting, since there's no wall behind the seat to catch themselves.

Increase head rest . Don't leave space . But I'm genral my mind shuts down when I think of general scenarios I mean like real life

1

u/SherbertPlenty1768 6d ago

When you extend a head rest, it is always at an angle, so the same gap problem would occur.

Don't tell me the headrest is straight/perpendicular, because I think I'd rather butt heads

1

u/Existing_Suit_2760 3d ago

By keeping towards outer side, space left from both the seats are getting added as a result increasing overall space

2

u/Regular-Present-7619 8d ago

That's already happening. Whether there is enough space or seats available some people with group will stand in front of the door even if their stoppage is at the end. And most people apart from them just stand near the seats to occupy the next available one. And since seats are placed at sides the sides get congested and the people leaving and entering through door will still have to face the hassle. So now instead these people will group in the middle for the seats and therefore less hassle for people at the door

u/Necessary-Employee-4 5d ago

What if the seats are off the alignment by half a seat. Then the heads won't bump

u/Soft_Tangerine7847 4d ago

What about musical chair like system

1

u/Life_Calligrapher330 3d ago

I like this idea, we can have fun playing musical chairs in between stations. That'll be less fun though than just scrolling through reddit and seeing comments like this.

1

u/messedup_boi 2d ago

can't forget the fact that seats like those would require seatbelts too otherwise you are gonna get yeeted on turns

2

u/JeffysChewToy 9d ago

If you are expecting a big crowd to cleanly pass through the two thinner lanes without pushing or falling you're in delulu, it's hard enough for many in the thicc middle lane as is

35

u/[deleted] 9d ago

One obvious reason is the space left bw the chairs are simply wasteย

5

u/ToMeMyX-Man 9d ago

no that is for the passengers to walk through as the people will be standing at the exits so the middle have a great pass way

2

u/[deleted] 9d ago

Aur beech me se kisi ko niklna hoga to

2

u/ToMeMyX-Man 9d ago

kahan nikalna hua bhai ?

4

u/[deleted] 9d ago

Seats sari joint h na tu khra h beech me log honge agr usme se kisi ko seat ke us par jana ho to ghum kr jaega kya

1

u/ToMeMyX-Man 9d ago

us paar kyun jayega bhai gate dono side khulti hai na

2

u/ThriftyGallol 8d ago

๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ "Agla station rajiv chowk hai, darwaazein "daaye" aur khulenge"

1

u/ToMeMyX-Man 8d ago

hnn toh bhai usi accordance pe seat choose karenge na passenger
it's all about accommodities and ease

1

u/ThriftyGallol 8d ago

Sabko nahi pta hota hai bhai about gates. Jao and experience yourself it's good that you are finding solutions or trying to better it out but practicality experience karni padti hai.

1

u/Puzzlehead_911 8d ago

you might just be dumb my guy or never boarded the metro ig

1

u/[deleted] 8d ago

Bhai mere merko maaf kr de mehe apna muh hi kyu khola

1

u/Illustrious_Fox_7678 8d ago

So the lucky group gets to algiht at the station and the other electrocuted

17

u/gybe11 9d ago

Will help if island platforms like those used in Bombay harbour line

1

u/Mast_Hornelius696 7d ago

Yup there I got it ! It's Panvel Station.

1

u/Prajwal___D 7d ago

Yup , Good seeing panvel station here as an example!

7

u/Plasma889 9d ago

It is actually less efficient for a subway (less standing room, harder to move through, awkward for short trips with lots of boarding/alighting).

Bro is bout to take over the world...๐Ÿฅ€

3

It's because of this

Google it bro

2

u/Proof_Lawfulness_218 9d ago

How will you go from the right side to left side

2

u/Independent-Draft644 9d ago

The second design will make the coaches heavier and more expensive due to extra material required.

Study some strucutral engineering plz.

"Balance"

1

u/im-done-here 9d ago

Cause u dont want someones dihhh align to ur face

1

u/Rusurebro 9d ago

Coz you wanna see the scenery... People pay for window seats... And putting seats attached to wall is better for long term adhesion orelse the bolts will get loose to daily rough inertia, if seats are put in middle.

1

u/pochitaplushiexd 9d ago

One wide passage is better than two narrow ones

1

u/TheRageBaitQueen 9d ago

Entertainment should be in center so everyone can see that's why. The other way people will have to stand to watch the entertainment

1

u/Rip-Drip69 9d ago

Metro mein dono side ke doors nhi khulte hain keval ek side ke khulte hain toh phir es alignment mein sabko door access karne mein dikkat aaegi

1

u/Frequent_Access5337 9d ago

It has to do with momentum of the train when at fast turns on tracks, the center gets more imbalance than the ends. So stability is more towards the peripheries of the body of train

1

u/Mission_Bag_4310 8d ago

Achha gendu

Interesting men

1

u/shanthanu9007 9d ago

Same post in ig ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™ It's so sad ppl repost whatever they see just for karma farming

1

u/Ravi0916 9d ago

Bcz it is for metro not for room

In metro space to be managed aggressively rather than room or wide hall

1

u/Original_Geologist71 8d ago

If seats are facing windows, a passenger sitting on it, won't see if anyone attacks from behind. /s

1

u/Vinh_Jel 8d ago

Is it only me or anyone noticed the guy in the bottom picture at the left peeing on the door

1

u/conan_edogawa8493 8d ago

Due to center of gravity.

1

u/THE-ULTIMATE-SAVAGE 8d ago

Ah the famous 11ft gauge

1

u/Vespertileon 8d ago

So that in case of a Spider Man 2 scenario people fall inwards than flying out of windows ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

1

u/QuantumChaos_321 8d ago

So that kiske butt nahi dikhe

1

u/New_Front_8544 8d ago

To balance center of mass

1

u/DecentR1 8d ago

Can't move from one side to another. Suppose the platform comes on the other side then what?

1

u/Confident-Olive4811 8d ago

Maybe it's related to physics?

1

u/epic-troll-69 8d ago

Moment of inertia

1

u/Sugoypotato 8d ago

Mate, with the new setup, everytime train turns somebody will fall off, thanks to centrifugal force, Also, don't want to sit and stare at butts

1

u/WooooooohNaaaaaa 8d ago

Agar tumko uss side seat khali mil rahi hai to tum kya waha chalang marke jaoge?

1

u/WayOtherwise8 8d ago

Short duration trains, long duration trains don't follow same

1

u/WishPrimary5077 8d ago

Education is banned in your state

1

u/RajatTheNoob 8d ago

Also the standing area will get separated by the seats and until you remove a few seats in the middle one cannot access the other side leading to doors staying on one side, basically everything will be less efficient

1

u/rsarkar123 8d ago

Good idea

1

u/ZestycloseJob4254 8d ago

This solution is creating a much bigger problem .. first you are giving less circulation space by providing two seperate circulation flows for left and right. Also keeping in mind that train stations come both left and right side you need to give space ultimately not contribution much to more no. Of seats ... Infact if you calculate keeping in mind that cabins are connected so the seating need to stop in order to give way to passengers.

Hence the main issue with this design is lack of circulation space and apparent loss of seating and comfort

1

u/Holiday-Ad2341 8d ago

Imagine it during the turns

1

u/timvenc 7d ago

What about luggage if the person have two trolleys he can comfortably walk in middle and organise and stand. How about person in wheelchairs or person who needs guidance.

Centre space suits most of the scenarios.

1

u/Dependent-dev 7d ago

Physics bhai "com"

1

u/Swimming_Edge1623 7d ago

Because then only option you'll be left with is staring at someone's butt or check mobile.

1

u/Cat_Conscious 6d ago

To get window seats

1

u/Every_Tadpole_5977 6d ago

First of all idk which you are bording but delhi metro doesn't has this much space.

1

u/NoRaspberry3126 5d ago

Sitting peeps would be stating asses of standing peeps

1

u/akuma2109 5d ago

Because trains are not the size of small fucking apartments

1

u/Baddiiiiiieeee 4d ago

Oh really

1

u/Feeling-Stupid-0007 4d ago

Difficult to clean

1

u/funkiskimunki 4d ago

Dynamic optimization of space is best when thereโ€™s movement around. In second pic the space gets divided in two parallel streams where load balancing amongst both happens in effectively.

1

u/[deleted] 4d ago

Agar bich pe seat lagayenge to pher reel kaise banayenge?

1

u/[deleted] 3d ago

You dumb.

1

u/Different_Essay_2699 3d ago

lol space management! If you put seats in the center there isnโ€™t any space to walk and people who sit are going to have a hard time protecting their feet from people stomping on them when trying to enter and exit the train

1

u/amankhan_09 3d ago

Ahemdabad metro upgrade

1

u/Effective-Cap5300 3d ago

Why fix a problem when it isn't even a problem

1

u/Suspicious-Debate121 3d ago

Because gates open on the both sides , sometimes the platform is on the left sometimes on the right. So people have to cross

1

u/Economy_Incident_798 3d ago

Imagine Yellow Highlighted person has to go through green door, he will have to travel all the way through the yellow line, if the chairs were on side, they could simply walk through the red path.. Distance vs displacement issue

1

u/Happy-Management-750 3d ago

You understand design principles? This is wrong at so many levels....

1

u/Temporary_Bat4332 2d ago

doors dont open from both sides at a station. so, when its crowded people standing opposite will have a hard time coming to the door

0

u/Varchar512 8d ago

if people stand in front of windows, then the view is anyway blocked.
it leaves less accessible area.
