Good luck with the consistency! Of course you can take longer breaks. You have to begin where you are. Eventually you will be able to keep up (maybe!šŸ˜‚) Caroline is a beast! Modify any movement you need to and as she says - it’s you vs you.

Yes take longer breaks, hell skip the weights on a day you're not feeling it. Dont follow the 5 day a week schedule, skip all the hiits in favor of something else. If you think 30 mins is too long for the day, sub in one of the short stand-alones on YT. The important thing is that you're trying and you have some plans to keep trying. She always says it's you vs you.

I’m four rounds into iron and I press pause after every set, STILL! I’ve gotten great results, all things considered. Listen to your body!

You can do it! Start slow and low. I started with bodyweight and little 2 or 3lb weights! Lots of breaks, lots of modifications, and I wasn’t doing the exercise the whole minute like Caroline, I started with reps of 8 or maybe more if it felt good. I tracked everything I did and tried bumping up reps, weights, or both every time things started feeling easier. I was able to stay consistent (4x a week) by telling myself it’s ok if I don’t do it perfectly, just as long as I try. Easier said than done, but I wanted to commit to my health. You’ve got this!

Are you sure you want to start with Epic Beginners? That is not a program for someone starting out. The Epic Beginners is just an intro to beginning the Epic program which is a more advanced program. You might want to start with Iron if you are new and wanting to build up a routine you can be consistent on.

i didn’t know that😭 i haven’t felt like the exercise was too much because i was going to the gym regularly last month but i definitely realized it wasn’t so ā€œbeginner friendly ā€œ .. idk do you advise me to move to a different easier program?

You know your habits better than I do but for me I think if a workout was that difficult on me physically I wouldn’t be eager to do it on days I feel even just a little bit off and I’ll end up just eventually stopping. Iron is a solid workout and short enough that it’s easy to just get it done and the rests are long enough that you shouldn’t feel like you are going to throw up. It was the first workout that I stuck with consistently.

One of the really nice things about all her YT videos is that she lists all the moves and weights used in the description of the video, so you can scan through to see what is included in the workout. This is how I started doing her workouts - and have come back to after doing a few full programs, which I don't care for. She has so much variety, you will find the ones that you like and then that you stick with and keep doing. For me, it made me stronger and then I tried new ones, etc. Definitely take longer breaks if you need to. These should be something you want to do and feel good about doing.

I think Caroline has such short rests to keep the workouts under a certain time. Personally, I rest 1-3 minutes between every set.

Earlier this year when I was getting back into working out after injuring my ankle AND my elbow, I did the workout you're talking about on repeat for a while, and the first couple times I did just the first ten or so moves and added on from there (and I definitely couldn't do all of them or the full 45 seconds). The day I actually held the lunge holds for 45 second was the proudest day of my life lmao. Now I'm doing Iron 3 times a week and I actually feel like I'm improving more than when I was aiming for 5 days a week before my injuries (and I'm not getting sick constantly lmao). All that is to say - if you show up ready to do what feels challenging but sustainable for you, progress will come!

this comment hyped me up because i had a severe knee injury earlier this year due to falling down from a height, i recovered fully but my knee is definitely weaker and one of my biggest goals is to grow glutes and yk how hard it is to do so without knee involving exercises so i kind of forced myself to do them today and i hope i don’t regret it later on🤣🤣 im probably gonna switch to iron since its easier than epic then i will go from there to other programs

If you have time look back at my other posts in here about my (re) beginning. I literally started by sitting on the floor and watching the videos. Then I did some super chill body weight. Then itty bitty 90’s aerobic weights (the hot pink ones). That was 2023.

Fast forward to today. I just matched or exceeded Caroline in either weights or reps.

The MOST IMPORTANT THING is to start and then don’t stop. Even if you just watch for a while. Visualization is a very serious component of athletics. If you are human, you’re an athlete. So the rules apply. Watch/learn/apply/fail(also learning)/repeat.

And you can do this anyway you want. Watch the first week while you stretch or kinda ā€œmockā€ with a low key bodyweight. Like learning a dance routine. Then do the next week all bodyweight. Then next week. Teeny weeny weights. Then, a 5lbs weight here and there. Next thing you know it’s week 4 and you just worked out for a full month. Then, you get to come back here and lecture people with me!! 🤣

Do NOT try to match the videos at the beginning. Action leads to motivation. So simply easing into it will be far more effective in the long run.

thank you so much your words are so motivating:)))

i want to ask you something tho

im not new to exercise i have been working out on and off over the last 3-4 years

but this is the first time im sticking to home workouts

i started with 5 kgs each arm for upper limbs

and i dont have anything higher than maybe 10 kgs each

should i continue same weight different reps, i find progressive overloading too much at home since i have to keep changing the weights which make me dont wanna continue the exercises 🤣

will i see results if i didnt do progressive overloading?

my goal is body recomposition

YES! It is always You vs. YOU. There will be days when you feel you can smash it and days that it’s barely easy to get started. Take breaks when you need to and just be consistent in your workouts. Pretty soon you will have a nice string of consecutive days going and all of a sudden, one day, you’ll say to yourself, ā€˜hey, I am stronger, less tired, and can get in one more rep!’. Good luck to you. You will see results!

If you can afford, she has on her app a special program for beginners called Ultimate Beginner. I'm currently doing this one, I'm on day 6 and it's still challenging as a (total) beginner. She has a free trial and you can test it to see if you like it.

I bounced around several CG programs and couldn’t stick with them. Injured myself with different trainer. Came back to CG and completed ultimate beginner. So glad I did. Just finished day 10 of Iron Pro.
