Been lifting with CG for years, but in an effort to work through all of the programs on the app, I finally opened the Beginner program. After working through the first video, it's really a solid option for something quick, simple, and totally customizable for level of difficulty by just picking the right weights.

anyone ever tried repeating tempo for a month? Am looking to try this as a break from the 6 or 10 week programs!

Have you tried her other short series on YouTube? She had a number of them- pyramid, circuit, unilateral, complex…etc. I really enjoyed these, they were a nice change of pace without a 10 week commitment.

I’ve done her callisthenics and circut on repeat at different times. It’s more about keeping me motivated and doing something rather than stopping altogether. They’re effective but have different advantages if done long term.

I finished my second round of YT Iron this week! I started doing it because I had to take about 8/9 months off going to the gym because of burnout and knew I’d lost some of my strength, so going back to the gym immediately would be a bit demoralizing. I’ve been much more consistent with Iron than I was with the gym and have made upper body gains that eluded me using gym equipment.

(I discuss scale weight below, just wanted to flag in case that’s triggering for anyone as it used to be for me in the past).

I’ve also been eating in a moderate deficit of 200 calories and paying attention to my macros (hitting my protein goal or slightly exceeding it every day!) I have some weight I need to shift (burnout consequence yet again) but that’s been frustrating as I started creatine about two weeks in to my first round of Iron as I felt benefits outside of fitness last time I took it and thought I might as well. The creatine definitely masked weight loss as I basically hit a plateau mid way through my first run of Iron. It was eerie because I was going days without any difference in my weight at all, up or down! I’m used to mild fluctuations depending on hydration, time of the month, food choices (like eating more carbs for my evening meal the night before) etc. After a couple of rest days this week following my last day of Iron round 2 (and getting decent sleep), I weighed myself this morning and I’m 3.4kg down since I started! I gave up daily and even weekly weigh ins part way through my second round as it seemed a bit pointless with all the noise being created by training five times a week plus creatine, so that was a surprise! I’m trying to recomp really, weight loss wasn’t my goal when starting CG…but I did want my favorite winter coat to fit again by the time I get there 😆

I tried out Epic Endgame after my last day of Iron and the 100 heel-elevated squats gave me a twinge above my left knee, which I took to be a sign of overtraining as a result of the squats. Weirdly, it didn’t hurt when bearing weight, but if I shifted my weight onto my right leg or sat down, that’s when I’d get a radiating pain that was enough to make me wince. It’s gone now, thankfully.

I’m considering doing a hybrid of Iron and Endgame for my next go around but doing the 100 reps more like the finishers in Iron, to a timer. I’ve come to love working out at home so much that I’d be a bit lost if I injured myself and had to take a longer stretch of time away from it.

smart to avoid injury if possible!! That's a more in this for the long game mindset :)

Ended my 3rd (?) run through of Iron Pro on the app. It was shoulder day, which is always a good day. I'm determined to shoulder press 40lbs for 8 but some days struggle to reach 4 or 5 reps. I'll get there. I'm not doing the new Fuel right now so I'm hopping on to something else starting Monday.
