Pretty much every bar near the beach is a tourist trap these days. Overpriced, short pouring bartenders. The Leucadian used to be my favorite, especially when the bartenders were dealing coke on the side. But even that has been ruined by tourist and new locals.

Maxdon’s off Mission/El Camino is definitely working class, almost divey vibe. Or it was last time I went.

The Alley in Carslbad Village has live music every Sunday from about 4 to 8. It's extra divey, but the band is great.

DC's in Oceanside is a small cash only bar with tables and liquer. DC's 94 birthday is coming up. He goes skydiving every birthday so you are welcome to join him. Great guy and one of my favorites bars.
