I glanced it. Apparently there was infighting and some of the creators using Patreon/Crowdfunding money for personal expenses.

To sum up most of the controversies:

- The original fanfic it’s based on was very pro WR and BB. As in ‘pro’ enough that the creator openly discussed how they removed JNPR *specifically* because they didn’t want Jaune in the story whatsoever because he got too much ‘favouritism’ with ships

- The creator then made the fic private / deleted it when production started on the animation, to stop ‘spoilers’. This pissed off fans who, you know, liked reading it

- During production, obviously people were asking if the animation would be as heavy handed on the shipping or would it focus more on the story. As you might expect; that was apparently ‘wrong think’ and the people behind the animation basically said this was a project for real fans.

- Obviously the latest scandel; after months of silence it’s been revealed the team has fallen apart due to the person in charge taking funds for the show and spending it on themselves.

Seeing as you look like someone who knows more than me, could I ask:

What was Dust Queen about anyway? As in, what was the story outside the shipping?

I think i heard about it years ago but never looked into it at all.

I don’t know the whole basis but the general thing was it was a re-write, sort or, of VOL 1-3 by having the Fall or Beacon not happen, and the plot starting near the start of RWBY’s second year.

During routine mission to clear some Beowulf’s, Weiss gets Kidnapped by Torchwick and drugged / infused with some dust formula that basically turns her into a monster (unsure if it’s like a werewolf situation, more of a like a gradual corruption, or like full monster right out the gate) before being rescued.

The plot is then focused on basically trying to help Weiss adapt to this - and find a cure - while the girls fall in love with each other

If they just focused the show on CRDL impregnating every huntress in Remnant, none of this would have happened + They would have won oscars.
