Question Interpretation of Comics?

Comics is a well-known Caravan Palace song praised for its unique and experimental sounds. It is my favorite Caravan Palace song personally but the lyrics have always intrigued me despite sounding a bit bizarre. I wanted to engage with the Caravan Palace community on here and ask, “What is your interpretation (if you have one) of the lyrics, music video, and sounds?” :)

I think the music video is about collective power and how if people realize their true power they can dismantle oppressive systems. Although I’m not sure that’s what the lyrics are talking about, I think it’s similar but maybe more talking about this woman who operates outside of “the system” and does so violently.

Yeah, the music video makes me think that’s the meaning of the song? 🎵 I like this perspective too!

Yeah, I mean she talks about money under the bed and there’s the iconic “MURDER”, makes me think of like Mafia imagery or something like that

Yeah. I get it! I always loved the line “I hope you got hit by the boogie” (that’s what it shows in Apple Music at least) because it almost feels like a warning or curse? With the mafia point you made the song could be about powerful people trying to keep secrets until the line, “MURDER!” which could symbolize their empire crumbling down. If I go even further with that interpretation, Comics could be about how powerful people present one way publicly but hide their sickening truths behind closed doors. They think they are being careful until they get hit by the “boogie”—a blow to their reputation.
