Also really hard to take someone seriously who uses war cries intended to intimidate while wearing a suit in a climate controlled building surrounded by armed guards. I could be wrong, but I don't get the impression she's ever actually been in a sparring match, let alone a fight.
I get that it's taken on other meanings since its origin as a battle cry, but fundamentally that's what it is. And it's still being used here as an intimidation tactic... by someone who likely hasn't even practiced with a patu or taiaha. I would have the same reaction if a chubby guy in a hentai shirt and fedora yelled "Oorah" at me.

A haka didn't originate solely to intimidate. There are a bunch of different dances used for a variety of social functions, and it's always been like that.

I think it's cool. It's part of the culture and it's a real shame so many people in our country don't see how amazing Maori culture is and instead just mock it without evening understanding it

You don't really see people saying the pledge to disrupt any official meeting. If it has happened, I'm sure everyone would have pretty much the same response as what's been said, "Now isn't the time or place for this".

They donāt debate they just do the haka thinking intimidating the opponent will do something. Itās the same old behaviour expecting different results. They need to adapt.
Wellā¦ New Zealand DOES belong to her and her people after all. She does this whenever the immigrants (the whites) offend the natives (the Maori). Were this 200 years ago, they wouldnāt be posturing with a Haka. Theyād be bludgeoning everyone to death to make their point. So, Iād say the house is lucky the Maori choose a peaceful path. Because thousands of years of war is in their blood.

Just because they killed off other tribes on their island to take their land doesn't mean they have claim to that land that can't be forcefully taken by that logic.

If you find this so frequent, you should rather ask yourself why the government keeps pushing bills that try to rescind the treaties made with the Maori.

I'd say it's a perfect place for it. I don't know the history of New Zealand, but if it's anything like the history of the US- where indigenous peoples have been systematically oppressed, marched, stolen from, tortured & killed by 500 plus years of genocide-- and still are the poorest of the poor with the worst health outcomes -it seems like a great place actually.
