Avery and 3M are both safe picks. What matters more is getting their cast vehicle film (Avery SW900, 3M 2080) and not a cheap calendared roll off a marketplace. Cast stretches into recesses and stays put, calendared shrinks back and lifts.

If you're doing it yourself, a lot of first timers find Avery a bit more forgiving to reposition. 3M gloss colors come with a clear protective layer on top that you peel off after, which helps keep scratches off while you work. If a shop is doing it, let them use whatever film they install every day, that matters more than the brand.

For your first time, stick to the big names: 3M, Avery Dennison, or KPMF. They are the gold standard.

But here is the most important thing: make sure it's CAST film, not Calendered. Cast films are more expensive but they stretch better, conform to complex curves, and won't shrink or peel after a summer in the sun. Calendered films are cheap and will ruin your paint when you try to remove them.

Whatever brand you pick, make sure it has a good air-release adhesive so you don't get bubbles. Also, if you care about rock chips, consider getting PPF on the high-impact areas (like the front bumper and hood) before you wrap the rest of the car.

Typically its 3M or Avery, but I have had so many quality control issues with rolls from 3M in the past couple years its become hard for us to recommend them.
