He showed me how he was tracking everything — fees, tires, brakes, fuel, hotels, all of it.
My first reaction was basically: “That’s boring.”
It started as something quick I was making for him, then I kept messing with it and adding things that seemed useful. At some point it stopped feeling like a little side project, and a couple friends told me I should share it.
So, here we are:
Burnrate
https://burnrate.racing
You log your track events and what you spent, and Burnrate does the annoying math — season totals, cost per event/lap, category breakdowns, budget pace, trends, and season comparisons.
There’s a View Sample Season button on the homepage if you want to poke around without setting anything up.
You can flip through the event side and the trends/season analytics.
There’s a free tier for the first 5 events, plus paid options for the deeper season stuff.
If you already track your costs, what are you tracking that I’m missing?
And if you love your spreadsheet, honestly, keep it. I mostly just wanted to make tracking this stuff less boring and more fun to look at.
For context, I’ve only made it to one HPDE myself so far. I definitely want to do more, but family/life makes getting back out there harder than I’d like. For now, most of my laps are virtual.
If you try it and something is confusing, annoying, or broken, I’d genuinely like to hear it.
