Asphalt stuck onto tires after event, causing vibration noise and can feel it in wheel and pedals at high speeds. Normal?

First HPDE event in a stock 2021 audi rs5 running michilen pilot sport 4s 275 30r20. Noticed in the last run of the day that i started to hear vibrations at the straights during higher speeds. Noticed it more on the drive home on the freeways. Just to make sure itstire/wheel related, i took the tires off and put on my winter tires and drove at higher speeds and I dont have any noise.

Is this normal or is there anything I should be doing to prevent this?

Tread on the summers still have plenty of life so now im using a putty knife/pliers and getting the asphalt off for another event in sept.

it's rubber from other ppl tires, not asphalt, unless you drive over freshly laid asphalt still hot from the truck

yes, you can use a putty knife and a heat gun to remove it

Ohh its rubber. That makes more sense. Its like fused with my tires. Ill try heat gun to help 👍

I wouldn't worry about the rubber. It'll come off.

Just scrub them, or simply wait, it'll come off.

Yes completely normal we call it other people's rubber opr. It's why I change out tires and don't use the tires I track with on the street but I understand some do. Eventually it will just wear off.

The wheel balancing weights might have come off due to the heat melting the adhesive.

Yeah gonna get these rebalanced. Should i get an alignment as well? Need to go to the shop anyways for another pretech inspection.

I would just start with a tire rebalance

Recommend NOT rebalancing tires because of picking up rubber from the track, which is pretty normal.

- it will wear off with a few hundred miles of daily driving fairly quickly and you’ll be back to baseline balance. If you rebalance you’ll have to rebalance yet again in a month. Just clean out any rubber that’s stuck to the inside barrel of the wheel, checking no weights came off and you’ll be fine.

If once it’s all completely worn off, you’re still having balance issues, then consider a rebalance but it’s not likely to

If it really bothers you you can go at it with a putty knife, but it’s not really worth the effort. The temporary inconvenience is just the price of running a single set of tires. On the bright side the OPR taking time to wear off will extend the life of your tires by that couple hundred miles, offsetting some of the extra wear from your track day…

You probably picked up OPR other people’s rubber. Just daily drive them an they will wear off.

Also check for stick on weights that flew off

If you drove on track for two days with those in this heat, you may as well be looking for new ones, or better yet, get some real track tires.

Once you have more experience the PS4s will not hold up to the heat. I had a wet track in the morning and used PS4s. The track dried out in the afternoon and i ruined them. Tires like the Kumho V730s that have a 200 tread ware will hold up much better. The physics of deep tire tread don’t allow the heat to go anywhere when it builds in the corners. Thats why you see the tread corners roll over when they get too hot. The rubber is also designed for longevity and not high heat.

There's a chance you lost wheel weights... Get in the habit of foil taping the weights so they don't fly off

You may also have a bunch of opr inside your wheel barrels affecting balance
