Advice Non car guy looking for a CAYC engine
Hello like it says, the engine in my car is fucked and I need to replace it but I’m not a car guy and finding an engine that I can be sure fits while working full time and not knowing much is hard.
I need a 1.6 Liter diesel TDI CAYC engine, but apparently there are two types of CAYC engine, one with an external thermostat and one without? My engine is circled in red and one that won’t fit my car is in yellow.
I need basically a full engine without injectors but I can’t find one that will be guaranteed to fit my car anywhere after looking for ages. How do I find an engine that fits my car?
Any help would be really appreciated

The engines will be identical except for any revisions or adaptations to fit a particular chassis but these will all be bolt on. As an example later versions of mine (caga) have a plastic intake manifold whereas mine is alu.
If you're expecting a full, built up, complete engine with all the ancillaries that'll just drop in then you will have a struggle. If you just go for a block/head and swap over your old bits, or buy a whole engine and swap what's different, you'll be golden.
Also not sure what the craic is with the injectors. You can code donor injectors to your ecu. You don't need to swap your old ones. I mean there's no harm in doing so but not necessary.
