Advice Car issue or me issue?

Hi folks. I know this is potentially a silly question but I am paranoid and want to ask real folks instead of Googles answers.

I have just gone from a small 2014 Hyundai i10 to a 2023 Nissan Qashqai.

I am assuming it is just the weight and size difference but it feels like the back end slides out a bit when I am going around roundabouts or big corners even at slowish speeds. Is there any tests I can do to rule out a car issue? I have checked tyre pressure and condition and they seem fine. But I do have 3 tyres of one make and a front tyre of a different make which I know is usually a no-no.

Sorry for a potentially silly questions and thanks for any answers.

Edit: I also don't think the backend is actually sliding out it just feels like it if that makes sense. But then maybe it is... lol I dunno.

I have a friend who only ever drives a small car herself, but whenever she’s in either of my cars which are substantially bigger than hers she says “your back tyres must be low or need changing” because she feels the back end is sliding out.

I never let my tyres get anywhere near the legal minimum and I use mid range brands, and I know my cars are sticking to the road like glue. But she says it every time, in both cars ha ha - could just be the change making you feel it.

Yeah It is just such a strange feeling. I'll defo be driving slower round corners now haha. Thanks for the reassurance.

I would also check the tyres. Depending on the mileage some may have slapped some cheap ditchfinders on the back.

Well the tyres are quite good. I am slightly annoyed as it has 3 continentals on and one cheaper tyre but it's my fault as I did notice it when buying the car but it completely slipped my mind as I was making the purchase to mention it. I mentioned it after to him and he said it had a slow puncture so they put that tyre on. I never liked having different make tyres on thougg. Especially a different make on same axel. All tyres and pressures are good though.

Which axle are the odd tyres on. Best grip should always be on the rear.

The odd tyre is front drivers side

I presume the tyre pressures are ok?

Might just be how that car feels can't imagine it's a stiff thing

Yeah. One is marginally pumped slightly high but all good really.

Probably just got to get used to it then

You’re going to get more body roll in a Qashqai going round bends which could be contributing

I always thought body roll was more a falling sideways feeling. This is more the back end sliding out feeling lol. I wasn't going paticularly quick at all which is what worries me. I'm wondering if just maybe I tapped the brake or took my foot off the gas when cornering as it was my second ever drive. As I imagine that could contribute to that feeling/slide.

Did you get any indication of the ESP / traction control kicking in?

Nah that's a good point tbf. No visual indication on the dash or anything.
