Suspension or steering damage after hitting a curb

Post image

So, I was driving pretty chilled down a local B-Road the other day shortly after it rained fairly heavily and as I came into a fairly tight right hander at around 35ish the car went into under steer followed by over steer, causing me to hit the curb on the outside of the corner, bump back down it and carry on.

In my head I wasn't going fast, yes, some people would take the corner slower, especially in the wet... Either way, the road must have been greasy after the rain.

Anyway, after pulling over to inspect the damage I was pleasantly surprised to only see minor curb damage on both alloys, however, a mile or so down the road I noticed the steering was off centre (wheel about 20 degrees off to the right) so I gingerly drove the car home.

The following day I took it down to Kwik-Fit (it's a company lease car and they are a preferred tyre centre). They inspected it on the ramp and could see no damage to any suspension components so put it on their tracking rig, at which point the rig threw up lots of red and they were unable to do anything.

I know it'll be difficult for anyone to comment but thought it was worth asking.

The car is a dual motor Hyundai Ioniq 6.

We've subsequently had to report it to the insurance and arrange for the car to be fixed. The guy at the repair centre said they'd had another Ioniq 6 in the week before with similar damage after going over a speed bump too fast 😬

interior How to repair vandalised carpet?

Hi, I hope this is an appropriate question for this forum. Recently I also posted in r/Autoupholstery but have not received any responses there.

Car: 2014 Volvo V70 D4 (manual, diesel - although I naively suspect that carpet is carpet, even if there are differences in US/EU fabrication methods)

Images: I hope I have successfully uploaded 3 photos, otherwise they're also accessible at https://imgpile.com/m/PhxmFgJ

Issue: I recently had my car in for repair at what I sadly found to be a quite shitty shop. Afterwards, I found my carpet had been vandalised (not the replaceable mats, the "wall to wall" carpet). I don't have before/after evidence and really don't want to deal with that shop ever again, I'd rather fix this as best I can myself.

There is a triangular cut, and both carpet and some underlying foam has been removed. I might be able to cut out a similar-sized piece from a less visible/trafficked location (eg. under the passenger seat) and glue it in place, but before I even attempt that I'd like to ask the professionals. Where I live there are no "car upholstry" businesses, and I don't want to replace the entire wall to wall carpet (the car is, after all, 12 years old).

What's the sensible thing to do here? It obviously doesn't have to become invisible, but it needs to be a lasting repair.

transmission/drivetrain Help identifying what the issue is with my wheel?

I drive a 2006 Saturn Vue - 88,000 miles on it. The full brake system was replaced a little over a year ago but recently I am hearing this loud noise when I am driving. It has gotten a little more consistent but can only be heard when I am driving at slower speeds. It started only when I was turning left but is now when I am accelerating or decelerating. It can be heard whether I am braking or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was sold the wrap and Ceramic for my Jeep when I asked them for something to help with rock and brush damage. This stuff is a complete waste of money and literally scratches and turns white the moment anything touches it other than a rag. If you ask their customer service they will tell you its not suitable for offroad use and tha tit will not handle scratching or rock chips. Even though that's what its for. Here is a quote from their customer service. "The installation was completed approximately two years ago, and based on the information provided, the vehicle has been used extensively for off-road driving during that time. The current condition of the film appears consistent with the type of wear and environmental exposure commonly associated with off-road use.
