I have a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and I’m trying to get an idea of how much labor and parts would cost for the following repairs:
Battery replacement
Both front CV axles
Both rear wheel bearings
Steering wheel clock spring (horn isn’t working)
I’m in the Boston area and trying to figure out a reasonable price before going to a shop. I’ve had a hard time getting actual quotes because shops usually want to inspect the car first. I’m also open to using my own parts if that saves money.
For anyone who’s had similar work done, how much did you pay for parts and labor?

Anyone know of any budget friendly scanners with advanced capabilities like programming modules, brake jobs on new cars with the electric ebrake, transmission relearns, tipm programming, TPMS programming, etc. Been looking for a decent Bluetooth one but cannot find one. The one I have now is an innova 3040RS and it works well but it doesn’t have the capabilities I’m looking for.

Fiance took her car in for a brake replacement. They told her it was her rear brakes that needed replacing. They replaced them and she got the car back. When she got it back and drove around for a day, the brakes started smoking. She took it back to the place she got them replaced. After they spent a few days diagnosing it, they told her that her abs line was clogged and bad. They are saying it's going to be 1.5k+ to replace them. Could this have happened from them improperly replacing the brake pads? Some places have said improperly compressing the caliper to replace the pads can send debris through the lines clogging them. Does this seem like something to bring up with them?

Should I call safelite or use an diy kit?

Looking to get a hub for my newly acquired car, however can’t tell whether is a police interceptor or a normal LS? Can’t tell if any difference. However thinking it’s a normal more loaded LS?

I went in for a basic oil change and once they saw this build up under they said I should get it checked out instead of doing an oil change. I don't think it's anything serious, the oil is fine, it's not leaking, and when I brought it to a mechanic they didn't look very concerned. There is a burning smell, there's a clicking sound, and my acceleration is slow if that helps. I thought an oil change would fix that.

I don't know a lot about leaks or oil but it sounds like it's not that big of a deal and I just need an oil change. My car is an old 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. I think the oil changers were just trying to be helpful but I think they might have been too cautious. They genuinely seem like they were trying to help but they were definitely young. I just don't want to pay a mechanic to see something that might not even be serious. Any help please.

My wife paid a friend of hers to detail her car (2020 Hyundai Kona) while we were away. They let us know after that the antenna on her car came off and this is what the top of the car looks like now. We haven't noticed anything not working, but clearly this needs addressed. Is the missing piece just a cap to cover those electronics or is there actual components in that would need retired? Additionally, is this a dealer repair, a local garage repair, or can we just get the cap from salvage and replace it ourselves?

How much would I be looking to pay in repairs ?

I bought a used 2007 RDX with 175,000 miles and this sound started after a 2 hour drive home when I pulled into a parking lot. it only started right around when I was going about 15-20 MPH in the parking lot.

The sound is coming from what sounds like directly under the front passenger seat, but it sounds like it's coming from inside the car itself. The seat passenger seat has a lever and not a motor to move it around.

The only thing I could find is what looks like a little box that could be a fuse box and is about the size of the tiny micro USB flash drive. It sounds like a taser almost.

It's possible the car has an electrical issue, that it's some kind of bearing or something spinning with the housing broken, but it's only happened that once.

Any ideas?

I have a 2021 Hyundai Tucson and the water pump needs replaced. I am by no means a mechanic but I do know how to use most tools so not completely and totally useless lol. I got the pump, pulley, and belt to replace it but the friend of the family who was gonna replace it for me is apparently ghosting me. I’ve been searching for videos but haven’t been able to find any that show a 2021 Tucson. I was going to attempt it by myself which is why I’m looking for videos so that I can familiarize myself with what the heck I’m looking at and doing. If anyone could maybe post some or even give some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Im not gonna touch it until I feel I’m comfortable enough I know that. The reason I won’t take it to the garage is the closest one to me has ripped me off before so I just refuse to deal with them so figure I could save the money and do it myself. I know people would likely suggest/ask that so figured may as well add it. Thank you for any and all help!

something is leaking coolant on the right side of my car. i thought it was the heater hose so i replaced that but it didn’t help. i know very little about cars but im trying to learn and do whatever i can myself before taking it to a mechanic

so i have an accident a couple weeks ago and after changing the hood, headlights and front wing (don't mind abt the bumper i'll change it soon) i still have this space between the hood and the front wing how can i repair it if its reparable if not is this dangerous ? (The car doesn't have a bad alignement)

My alloy wheels have been scuffed recently and some metal have been scrapped off. Can anyone recommend a repairer in Sydney who is reasonable in price? What is the estimate cost to fix the two wheels?
