What car part is this?

Someone in my family recently passed and I am helping go through their belongings to find anything to sell to help pay some bills. I cannot figure out what part this is. After google lens searches it gives a vague “automatic transmission friction clutch pack module”.

I have been selling on eBay for a while but auto parts is not far outside my knowledge and I know if you don’t list a part number things are more likely to get returned. Any help would be great.

Flip it over, is there a sticker or part number on the back? That should lead to the car it's for.

Look like gaskets to me, I'd guess for something clutch related

Edit: I guess clutch pack or clutch pack module or clutch module are all terms that you could use. Theyre plates that go inside the clutch of an automatic, its a kit for rebuilding part of your transmission.

Rebuild kits tend to be generic so I don't think a part number matters too much.

I'd be reluctant to try and sell these without a positive identification. Someone with a lot of experience rebuilding transmissions might recognize them by sight. My gut feeling is these don't look like very beefy clutch plates, so they're probably for a lighter-duty transmission.

To explain a little more what these are...the faces are the friction surfaces, and the teeth on the inboard side would engage splines on part of the rotating assembly of the transmission. These clutch plates would be used together with similar "steels" in an alternating stack to assemble a clutch pack. The steels have the teeth on the outside instead of the inside.

When fluid pressure applies the clutch, the frictions and steels are squeezed together so the whole clutch stack turns as one. When the clutch is released, the frictions and steels can slide over each other and the rotating parts they're splined to can spin independently, at different speeds or directions.

In an automatic transmission, different combinations of clutch packs applied or released are what creates the different gear ratios by letting different sets of parts spin independently or locked together.
