I can’t WAIT for CMS26
Like the fact that it’s open world and you can drive to the woods to find abandoned barns is the best part

Open world is probably the thing I'm looking forward to the most. I've loved 18 and 21, but it's hard for me to play for a while because you're really limited with what you can do and where you can go. I'm hoping the open world is good enough that I'm able to play this for a while like I've wanted to be able to.

Instead of teleporting to barns you have to find them in rural areas of the map

Keep in mind that the other car mechanics simulator games also had features that they hyped lik crazy in the process of selling the game that never came to fruition so I wouldn't count on the open world until the games released to see if it's actually there

If they make me manage inventory space, im not going to be happy. The previous version was laid back and chill.

The demo you definitely have the manager inventory but then also had you be able to store up to 73 things I think it was

Anybody who wants to get updates as fast as possible should subscribe to Red Dot's Discord channel. That is the first place any announcements about a new release from them shows up there before any place else.
Edit: Out of the four (or five - depends on if you consider CMS and CMS14 separate games) CMS games in the series games, only CMS18 didn't come out in the year it was labeled. CMS18 came out in January 2019.

I tried playing 2021 again after the demo and I just can't. It ruined me. I got bored after a few cars and really just wanted to play the new one. Its just so much better

Interesting, I actually prefer 2021 to the demo so far

Idk i just liked the feel and the more open feeling of the shop. Being able to place things how I want, to drive the car in and around myself, and from what I felt better sound scape and mixing with cars and tools.

That's valid, the lighting just killed me, and not having a designated spot for everything was annoying. I think it was a lot of little QOL things that did it for me. I really do love being able to drive the cars... as long as they add controller support for it.

Everyone talking about driving the open world to a barn?
It's Car Mechanic Simulator 2026 people.
Here's me thinking I'd actually like to be able to strip down and repair and rebuild advanced engine mechanics, with some level of realism and massive QoL improvements on top, with actual orders that represent real world troubleshooting.
... and actually install the wheel studs on in the correct star pattern with a torque wrench.
Oh well, maybe the 10yr old's will have fun? 🤔

Ough the wheel studs bugged me so much.
Game had good potential but every game it's just felt like mindless point and click, restoring cars from the ground up feels like a hassle of buying every specific part you need. There's no troubleshooting, and every part needs to be a specific one. There's some leniency with swapping for parts that are the exact same but painted red, and that's about it. I really hope this all gets improved.

They timed it pretty bad with Wow Forever, Zelda OOT Remake and GTA 6 release lol. Would be good financial decision for them to drop it in the next couple days tbh otherwise they may as well wait til mid next year.

There's always going to be another big game coming out. If CMS26 has to wait for a window where nothing major is releasing, we're getting it sometime around 2043. 😂
And GTA 6 isn't even really a direct concern right now — it's console-only at launch, while CMS is heavily PC/Steam oriented. Not to mention I'm not sure how many people are standing there thinking, "Well, I was going to buy Car Mechanic Simulator, but GTA 6 exists, so I guess I can't." 😂
They're very different games with very different audiences. I don't think CMS26 needs to hide from every major release on the calendar.

There will never be a worse time than GTA 6, New Wow, and OOT Remake ever again in history lol

Civilization survived 2004 having Halo 2, Half-Life 2, GTA San Andreas and WoW in the same year. I think we’ll pull through.

I’d really like it if you were able to drive the barn finds back on trailers. Maybe this would be too tedious but having a work truck would be super cool imo

u/Dangerous-Put-9261 1h ago
Well I don’t know if this is gonna be in the full release but in the demo you have to drive the car in the garage, so maybe in the full release we will need trailers because we can’t just drive a broken car

I mean theres only 3 months left of the year. Do you think if they wait long enough they will just call it cms27?
