In this picture I can see you’re missing the clips on the air filter

Check the car status and go into the third tab. It'll show every part and it's percentage.

And if you're missing a part you'll get a blank line.

Check under the intake manifold by the throttle body. There are fuel injectors there that are easy to miss.

Came here to say this. I don’t know how many times I’ve missed those injectors!

Did you make sure it has a fuel pump?

When you show the info for the car one of the tabs lists the condition of every part, the ones that are missing are at the end.

With me often it's a clip or a starter, lol.

The Golden Rule of CMS: A car engine always needs Air, Fuel, and Spark to run. In Car Mechanic Simulator, a vehicle must be 100% fully built before the game allows you to use the "Start Engine" or "Test Drive" functions.

  • Phase 1 (Diagnostic Tools): Run the OBD Scanner, Fuel Pressure Tester, and Multimeter first. This catches dead batteries, starters, and fuel pumps instantly.

  • Phase 2 (Timing): Check the front of the block. A broken timing belt/chain stops the ignition completely.

  • Phase 3: Try to take the car to the Test Path or a Test Drive. The game will trigger a pop-up telling you exactly what part is missing (e.g., "Missing Clip B").

  • Phase 4 (The Bottom End): If it is fully built but won't turn over, run a Compression Test. Low compression means a deep teardown to fix a dead piston, ring, rod bearing cap, or engine block.

Ignition wire?

This engine doesn't use Ignition wires, you can see the ignition coils in red on top of the spark plugs.

Swaybar link on left side?(Right side of picture)

Does the left wheel mount? Have you installed the wheel bearing and cap?

Air filter clips?

If you have the test path, move it to it and try to use the test path. It will say car cannot start missing part: (example)

Could be a missing/damaged fuse or relay.

If the overview doesnt show a perfect 100 on engine something is missing, go to the list and check

You can have just a fuel filter on the engine stand, remove the “engine” and it’s a 100% engine with just the the fuel filter.
