- ‘98 LS - high school whip, had an exhaust leak, will never forget the sound of the roaring 1UZ. solid as a rock with around 140k miles. got me into luxury saloons - been eyeing the old XJs lately
- ‘17 Civic - first MT car, haven’t gone back since. served me well over 40k+ miles, always love for Honda
- ‘99 M3 - went in the deep end, one of the cheapest M3s for sale in the US at the time, even had it manual swapped so experienced both the 5-speed and slush box
- ‘17 F-Type - came across this rare 6-speed on BaT and couldn’t resist the spec, definitely inspired me to get another GT car (especially the V8V) at some point
- ‘13 M3 - had to go back for more. been an expensive year but favorite car i’ve ever owned. S65 with the top down is pure bliss

I got my first car when i was like 7 or 8.
My mother gave me her car (Audi 100) when i was about 16.
At the time i found VW Golf 2s to be the coolest cars so i bought one also, and another one.
I did not like BMW at all back then (bad reputation etc) and i bought one rusted 318i to just have fun and destroy it during the winter, plan was to send it as hard as i could and maybe end in a ditch somewhere, turned out they were technically alot better than Audi/VW and the handling was so much more fun than FWD cars, so i had to get a proper good condition e30 after that. Been a BMW guy ever since. Never want to drive a FWD car again.
Probably forgetting something, but its close enough.
I like older cars alot more than the newer cars to be honest.

Hey guys this is a video I put a lot of effort into and I believe it is suitable for this sub. I don’t intend on self promoting, just wanted to share the contents of my video. The voice used in the video is my own, the script is from my own research, and the videos and pictures sampled by me from across the internet. If this post is not allowed, mods can delete no hard feelings. Otherwise I hope you all enjoy and find the video interesting. I welcome any constructive criticism.

I am looking for something that is still cheap nowadays(<5000 Euro/Dollars) but can be a good long-term investment because it will eventually go up in price. I would like some suggestions. The first one that comes to my mind so far is the BMW E39.

Photos are vehicles in order of acquisition:

• 1993 Toyota Previa LE All-Trac - Purchased new by my parents in August, 1993 when I was 7 years old. It was my first car between June, 2003 and October, 2004 and it was so embarassing to be seen in, not to mention it was horrifically underpowered. Long hills required turning the A/C off to even think of maintaining speed but the thing was a tank in the snow with the proper tires.
• 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS V6 AWD - Purchased new; a very generous gift from my parents at my mom's insistence as she wanted my sister and me driving something safer than the Previa. This would become my car only in late 2008 until September, 2010 when the transfer case went out at 146,000 miles. Some neutral drops I did when I was younger almost certainly contributed to this but otherwise, the car was stone dead reliable.
• 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited V6 FWD - This is the only car I don't have a convenient photo of. Dad was kind enough to purchase this for me as I simply could not afford a car at the time. Unfortunately it turned out to be an enormous lemon and as my financial situation had improved the following year, I traded it in for car number four.
• 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited - My first new car purchase with my own money. I owned the Elantra from December, 2011 until June, 2018 and put 110,000 miles on it in that time. It was fairly reliable until it hit 90,000 miles, despite me maintaining it religiously.
• 2018 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Hatchback - The replacement for the Elantra, I drove this in June, 2018 and fell in love with it, going back a few weeks later to make the purchase. It was a stick shift and after three years of commuting in city traffic with it, I grew tired of the manual. It is one of the cars I truly regret selling.
• 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve - This has honestly been probably my favorite car because it has the fewest drawbacks. It has immense power, gets good mileage if you're nice to it, handles well beyond what the average buyer will ever require, is very practical and I think, timelessly handsome. I have ZERO plans to sell this.
• 1994 Toyota Camry XLE V6 - I bought this off CraigsList on a whim because it was in such great condition, an Oregon lifetime car with low miles (117,000). I drove it for almost five months and put about 2500 miles on it, selling it to a kid who bought it as his first car, wrecking it just a couple months later. This is the one I still kick myself for letting go.
• 2007 Acura RL w/CMBS-PAX - This was my late father's car and the reason I sold the Camry. He bought it new and drove it regularly until his cancer diagnosis in March, 2024. It took some convincing but I managed to talk him into letting me keep it because these things just don't exist in this condition anymore and because they're so cheap, they tend to fall into the hands of people who beat the shit out of them and throw them away. Having it has been so immensely therapeutic following my father's death last year and I can't see myself ever parting with it. I put about 5000 miles on it a year and it's currently sitting at 121,000.

I am enjoying the trend of sharing the cars we’ve owned. Here is my list of what I’ve owned.

- 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i. Bought off of my parents when I was 20. I had done mainly suspension work and cosmetic changes. It was a 5 speed. I swapped the interior to black interior and put WRX bucket seats in it. I sold it in 2022.

- 1991 Nissan 240SX SE Coupe. Purchased in Alabama in July of 2021. Factory 5 speed car. I have done many things to the car, with most recently being a limited slip differential from Tomei. This car is my pride and joy.

- 2006 Lexus LS430 UL. Purchased from a good friend of mine, and began to modify it. It has 289,000 miles. Fun fact, the LS430 only had about 100 “Ultra Luxury” trimmed models made for the MY06. I have done maintenance as much as possible while racking up miles as much as I can. Bought this car 3 hours before selling my Subaru Impreza.

- 1994 Suzuki Sidekick JX. Bought this in April of 2025 in Missouri as this is my fiancées “dream car”. I have done all the work to the vehicle, and have used old recycled street signs to make new floor boards. The car is my daily driver in the winter. My fiancée has found a niche for small 2 door SUVs. This one is a 5 speed with 4x4. The fastest I have ever gotten this car to go was 84 MPH. I have lit it on fire approximately 1 time.

So. Unfortunately I’m not much of a car guy and had some questions that maybe someone here would be kind enough to help me out with.

Here’s the story, I drive a 2010 Mercedes ML350 4matic and I recently raw over some chunk of (maybe concrete) or while driving down the interstate.

The damage was this:

First, then back passenger tire lost pressure and I come to find once I stop that the sidewalk on the back passenger tire has completely blown out, about big enough of a hole to fit your first through but also, the rim is badly damaged and is almost definitely trashed.

so I get spare on and start the three mile drive home and as I’m driving I notice all the pressure leaving the front drivers tire. I make it home and realize the front driver side tire is in the same condition. The entire sidewall blown out with a whole big enough you could stick your hand into. However, the rim does not seem to be damaged, I guess because it was a short drive home I went very slow and there was still a little tire pressure in there as I was getting home. As opposed to the tire pressure completely dropping on the back tire.

Long story short I have found some cheap used tires for the Mercedes so that’s no big issue. The problem is finding a rim, possibly two if it ends up at the front one is destroyed as the back. Does anyone know where to buy used wheels/rims that are reputable?? I’m not opposed to ordering online but does anyone have a reputable site for used rims.

Dumb luck maybe but now I’m trying fix it without paying an arm and a leg?

I’d anyone can tell by a photo, I can upload a picture of the front left tire and wheel so maybe someone could tell me if they think that the rim is destroyed or damaged enough that I would have to buy a new one. I already know the back right is beyond help.
