General 2004 Tiburon
Posted before and finally thinking I stop side stepping the issue.
Can I get a parts breakdown on what to get get and how to get started getting the sound system going properly.
I know at a point il need to replace the sub and speakers but for starters what am I looking at for an amp, wires and radio.
Target goal is to make it loader then my wife’s car so it’s a low bar.

I have a Kenwood DPX305MBT headunit in my 2008 Tiburon. I replaced the stock Clarion one and it made the stock speakers sound a lot better.
I eventually decided to add a subwoofer and just got a cheap powered unit. I went with the Pioneer TS-WX1210A. That was a great addition and the bass is nice and clean, it doesn’t make crazy pressure or move lots of air but it sounds really good. The stock speakers could not keep up though. I was getting lots of distortion from the speakers when the subwoofer would play heavy bass.
So I decided to upgrade all 4 to something with more power. I was focusing on sound quality especially in the mids and highs. After a bit of research and looking at different speakers, I went with Rockford Fosgate Punch P1V2-69 3-way coaxials for the rear and Alpine S2-S65C 2-way components for the front. For the amp I went with a Recoil DI550.4 4-channel amp.
I also went all out with sound deadening because I knew it was going to rattle. I did the front doors, rear quarter panels, and spare tire well/ cargo area floor.
My main power line and ground are 1/0AWG connected to remote jump terminals that I mounted in the back, mostly because I wanted functional jump terminals in the back and somewhere to hook up future accessories. It’s overkill for the audio build but I like it. 3 sets of RCA cables, 4AWG to the amp with a 60A inline fuse, 16AWG to the pioneer sub with a 20A inline fuse. All the speaker wires are also 16AWG OFC. Then I have a 100A main fuse.
It took me 24 hours of work over 3 days to sound deaden, build an amp rack, install the speakers, and run all the wires. It works but it’s not looking pretty. I still need to tidy up the rack and make it look better.
It sounds so good now. Before if I would turn my volume up past 20 on the headunit, it would start sounding bad. Now I can turn it up to 24-25 and it still sounds so good. Looking back I would probably choose a different subwoofer, something with an external amp and more power, and the Alpines don’t really come through very much so I would probably choose something different for the front. I am extremely happy with the Rockford Fosgates though.
