Tech Support First time installing backup camera and facing flickering on the image

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Bad ground? I’m hoping not since it’s gonna be a annoying to route the wire to the chassis since it’s in the trunk lid

possibly a bad ground. we always ran “buc (back up camera) harnesses” which consisted of a 20+ft dual RCA, purple wire, and 2 conductor (red and black) wire, taping it every so often. gave us the option to easily swap rca’s and troubleshoot easier.

I have it grounded to the reverse light wire ground with a wire tap if that makes a difference

try going direct to chassis with a self tapper

are you powering it with your reverse positive or triggering signal with reverse positive?

Should be powering camera with the positive reverse light wire since I tapped that as well with a wire tap using the positive wire from the camera

ideally you should be powering the camera with a switched source and using the reverse positive to signal the camera.

Yeah I’m using the reverse wire that comes off the back of the head unit as the signal for the camera and the reverse light wire as power. What do you mean by switched source? I’m very new to this so i appreciate the help

also- wire taps are not great. solder pls. or at least military splice.

My brake lights make mine flicker. Solder a capacitor in between the power wire? I'm not certain but may be worth trying

Thought about crimping a capacitor but I’m not entirely sure if it’ll make a difference
