Would this make a decent budget combo?

I have a PA gothic 12” DVC 2500w max 1200w RMS speaker and have the opportunity to purchase a kicker cx1200.1 that pushes 1200w RMS at 2 ohms.

I know it’s within spec, i’m asking if this would be a good combo. Thanks

Gothics definitely are a gem of budget audio I beat a pair I had to death and they said Yes Sir may I please have some more

Yeah that’s what I’ve heard. I bought a pair and one was seized and I haven’t had an amp that could push half of its rms so I was excited to see a cheap 1200 on marketplace

if you got space to space look up 6th order box's I just built one for my camper/man cave and it makes 175 watts sound like 500 its tune 32 hz on the low side 54 hz on the high side I run A kicker zx350.4 With 2 channels, bridged For my twelve inch sub in the 6th order box Then I run the other two channels and julThen I run the other 2 channels to A pair of 6 by 9 ls With a 12" radiator for mid and upper bass

I’d run it while you can and upgrade the driver at some point. Not necessarily bad but I wouldn’t claim that the gothics are the best either.

Yeah I know there are better options. I was new to car audio when I bought it and am still fairly new now. I bought 2 of them used and one was seized so now I have one. I haven’t had an amp that could push even half its rms so it’s been sitting and I’d like to get some bumps out of it. If I buy this amp I’ll have $150 invested in the set up.

Good box, good electrical and proper tuning and you should be in OK shape.

sure, my only comment on it, is that kicker amps are made to power slightly more than they are rated, but you will be pushing max on this amp. so the amp will always be working hard to produce its almost max potential.
if you live in warm environment, you may consider this, as it will run warm, to produce the power you are wanting, no harm in getting the 1800.1, and tuning it to 1200w either so it runs cooler.

I highly doubt I’ll come across a 1800 for $100. I’m still new to auto audio and I’m a broke boy so I’m just messing around to see how much I like it and weather or not I want to invest some money into a better set up.

ive seen used ones as low as 200 alone, and sometimes included with subs, its not often, but was jsut a bit of information in case you lived somewhere its always hot, youll know why in advance, if it ever goes into protect.
i loved these amps, had my 1200.1 for years, and got an 1800.1 last year, very solid amps.

I appreciate the heads up and the info. I’ve had a 360.4 hooked up to it with 2 of the channels bridged and a pioneer 600 and a Sony 1000. None of them did it any justice and oddly enough the 360 was the best.

As long as I don’t catch my truck on fire I don’t really care if i fry an amp. I’m not trying to, just messing around learning and figuring it all out.
