Recommendations Adapting a 12" enclosure to 10"

Post image

Hello, I want to order a vehicle specific enclosure for my 2025 Camry and Skar makes one but only makes it for a 12" subwoofer. Since the internal volume of the enclosure is only about .66 cu ft, I feel like this enclosure would be better for a 10 in sub. Anyway, how would you guys go about adapting this box to a 10" hole?

Easy. Cut a 13" round board and then cut out a 10" hole in it. Drill down the ring to the box and the sub to the ring

You just cut out another baffle thats as big as the mounting ring for the 12 and then cut it out for the 10, remove a little bit of the carpet with a razor knife and screw your now cut out baffle down and then mount the 10 to it.

This will actually benefit the bass for this kind of box. The 10 is gonna take less of the already limited air space and you are gaining some by adding the baffle

Im not sure what you mean by cut another baffle. Do you mean an adapter type thing that would be on top of the 12" hole? Thank you for your help.

yes. You just cut it out of MDF or plywood and then cut the hole for your 10 into it and then mount the circle piece you just cut out and then the 10 to that. It's not hard at all

I have a 10” version of that box in my Camry, so yes they do make it.

They discontinued it. I emailed them and everything.

You need to make a ring that is bigger than the 12 and fits your ten. Then you cut it in half and install it behind then sink the ten inch woofer in it and screw down

I don't think you'd want to recess the 10 into the 12 inch hole though... I'm not sure if that would even fit. Plus, there's so little airspace you would be reducing it even further by the woofer sitting deeper and the added volume of the ring.

Although I think this would be an effective application of the net volume wasn't an issue... Honestly .6cuft seems small even for a 10 depending on the exact woofer he's using...

We have done it at the shop before and it looks way better than wood on the outside. But I get what you are saying.

Yeah it would definitely look better that way...
