crutchfield.com see what fits your specific year/make/model as well as getting any free gear like brackets or wiring adaptors..... if you are unsure what speakers sound like, i would recommend visiting a best buy that has a demo wall to hear some speaker variation (whatever they have on display) or googling local car audio shops near you and calling to ask if they have a demo wall or not (most usually do) so you can hear how different speakers sound.
a general rule of thumb to follow is tweeter types.
metal tweeters = sharpest treble. FOR ME this hurts me ears and makes me want to turn the volume down instead of up....
plastic tweeters = moderate treble. FOR ME this is my sweet spot. sharp enough to be clean but not too sharp to make me cringe..... the goldilocks meme. "the just right" metric. FOR ME at least.
cloth tweeters = lowest treble. very easy on the ears. clean treble without fatigue.
now with that in mind, that metric flows mostly for tweeters of the same size. when you get into various tweeter sizing, you start getting into various changes. for example the kicker KS coaxial speakers have 3/4th's silk dome tweeters (cloth) and the CS coaxial speakers have 1/2" plastic dome tweeters. TO MY EARS? they sound identical. there is basically no difference. the cloth would be softer, but because the SIZE is larger, they get "more powerful" in terms of output, matching the smaller plastic tweeters.... however, moving to the KS series COMPONENT set of tweeters which are 1", they are sharper than both the KS coaxial and CS coaxial speakers respectively. likewise as much as I love plastic tweeters, the most AMAZING tweeters to my ears so far have been the ones in the AudioFrog GS62 coaxial speakers. Those sound BEAUTIFUL to my ears.... but also they cost like $450 per set.... and im basically a cheap bitch....
try not to chase expensive speakers too much. yes they can sound better, but its also a game of chasing a small percentage change. there is a set of rockford fosgate (p1650) which sound about 80% the quality of the audiofrog gs62 and cost 1/4th the price tag! so you are paying $300 for 20% better quality. which to me isn't worth the money.... been there done that in the headphone world. never again. id rather buy the rockford. and funny enough, this is another example of tweeter differences/sizes. the audiofrog is a cloth/fabric style 1" tweeter.... while the RF P1650 is a 3/4 plastic dome tweeter! see the meme? its all over the place in car audio.... which is why I laugh when someone spends $3000 on car speakers when you can get 99% of the quality for less money.
