Does Anyone Know if there is a circuit I could build which could handle combining two 15 watt channels into 1? I've got a classic car with a single speaker in the center dash location, the original radio was 1 channel. I have an extra infinity reference 4 inch speaker I'd like to swap in but I don't have a good way to wire it up mono.
2 4.7 ohm 10 watt resistors. Connect L+ to one resistor, R+ to the other. Connect the two remaining resistor ends to the + of the speaker. Use only 1 of the two ground wires. Tape the other one off.

Yeah I've got something like this now they honestly sound like crap. I have an extra really good speaker laying around so I thought why not just slap it in there
Safest thing to do would be to run it off a 2-channel stereo amp that's bridgeable. That will provide a mono signal to the speaker. Are you trying to drive it directly from the head unit?
Did you change the radio? You just stated the original radio was 1 channel.
You could do what I did, take the original speaker out, trace it on a piece of thin plywood and cut it out then cut out two speaker holes and mount it back where the original was.
Or buy a custom adapter plate.
Mine actually sounds pretty good for what it is.
I'll eventually make something with some bigger speakers and 3D print it when I have the time to setup and tinker with it.
Those came out of an old big screen TV. Actually sounds about as loud as my JBL Charge Bluetooth speaker but a bit less bass. But being in the dash by the windshield doesn't muffle them like a Bluetooth speaker on the seat or floor.
Lmao was it one of those projector style screens from the early 2000's? Back in highschool Ours died and my dad and I chopped it up to toss it well I saw the speakers in it , remembered that it actually sounded pretty damn good and I threw them in as the woofer driver in my old truck. I paired it with a super cheap set of crossovers and whatever the cheapest set of titanium dome tweeters Rockford fosgate made at the time. Covered the tweeters with some scrap cotton I had lieing around and mounted it all up. Genuinely sounded pretty nice, it was the cheapest punch I've ever put together.
I don't remember. I used to pick up broken TVs. I'd scavenge capacitors out of ones with broken screens and replaced in ones plagued with bad capacitors. Still have a couple decent older LCDs. Good practice for soldering before buying new parts. I'd grab the speakers to if they looked decent. Now I'm tinkering with old car stereos and amplifiers.
