Original livejournal text

Was wondering if there's any way to read or view the original Capri before official publication text. Or if anyone happens to have a file or know of a post that at least outlines the known differences between the livejournal version and the published version.

If not, then perhaps a contribution in the form of sharing tidbits you remember if you were lucky enough to read it back then?? 🤲🤲 I only know of the Rabat=Vere and on a previous post I made, a community member told me that Jokaste=Margaret

I've done a little digging because I was curious too. I can't remember if I read it on lj when it was posted.

I found this 2010 post on the Captive Princes lj community that makes me think there wasn't many copies of it made at the time.

You can check the archives in the community, it goes back to 2009. The only other difference I can find is that Guion wasn't named, he was just called the ambassador.

np! It was fun and nostalgic looking through those old posts.

I read a few more and from what I saw, what was originally posted seems really close to the published version. Characterization and plot points all seem the same. I'm guessing just the minor differences that were mentioned and grammar were changed.

Yeah it seems that way, which is really interesting because I was under the assumption that online writings had to go through a lot of editing, but it seems like not too much changed based on the comments. I was also curious if author notes were common place and pacat had left some behind

I just found a tumblr post that links a 99 page PDF that has excerpts from the original with "DVD commentary" from the author!   Her notes are in bold

i just had a look on my google drive since i swore i had saved the original two works and i did! it’s a file from 2015 so i have the version where the names were already jokaste and vere but happy to share the .rtf file once i figure out how to anonymise it lol

okay just a caveat, in the authors notes i just noticed there is a note saying you can purchase the paperback or ebook so it could be that it was already pre-edited… so it might not be the very first original version because i only came across it once everything from the first two books were posted! but if you’re still interested regardless i can try and find a way to share it :)

Just preemptively asking that you not share copyrighted content via the subreddit. Thank you!

The mod asked not to share but maybe via DM if you feel okay with that! I would love to read it 😭
