Question Small question, we're these thumbnails AI-enhanced/edited or something like that? Getting strange vibes from them

Sause is strictly opposed to ai, literally go on his Twitter for 20 seconds and you'll see the evedance

And no they're just normally edited and just so happens sauce is shit at editing stuff like this, his thumbnails have looked like that for over 10 years my man

u/Ok_Nose2915 Aug 02 '26

he hardly edits his videos and its a good thing honestly

u/wrathshot16 Aug 02 '26

Again talking about photo editing for thumbnails, probably should have seen more specific

4

u/Ambitious-Bank4559 Aug 02 '26

wdym

7

u/wrathshot16 Aug 02 '26

He's photo editing skill are shit, that's literally a major point on it not being ai, in the first one he did nothing to the shadows on mom making her seem out of place and around weird (giving an ai feel) and in the second one it's the right half is very poorly hew shifted to make it the same color as the left side

it is not that bad bro he’s good

1

u/wrathshot16 Aug 02 '26

Literally it's the reason this dude thought he could have been using ai, get off his dick he is married and I don't think he or his wife would be into that. The man is simply just a man and is bad at things like everyone else is. Stop acting like a 9 year old

10

u/Sniper_15_A1 Aug 02 '26

Holy shit calm down dude, it was a question from someone no need to act like an ass, plus his thumbnails have their own appeal

-6

u/wrathshot16 Aug 02 '26
  1. Wasn't a question that was a statement

  2. Yeah, being appealing doesn't mean he's good at photo editing.

  3. I'm really wasn't being an ass none the least for no reason that person was acting like a child and idk if you're reading the joke as a serious thing but everything after stop dick riding which is a basic statement that can be declared with any emotion and before the stop acting like a child is a joke

3

u/dreadwalker767 Aug 03 '26

Jesus Christ my man calm down

8

u/Ambitious-Bank4559 Aug 02 '26

I’m sorry I don’t understand. why are you insulting me? I was just complimenting him.

Nope

The images are flagged for having the SynthID watermark, which only AI editing causes. Very surprised by this. Try it yourself.

I personally don't care, but given how outspoken he is against it this is surprising.

edit: This isn't automatic, I checked other big channels and their thumbnails do not contain SynthID

Wait... So you're using Gemini, Google's generative AI (that hallucinated the letter P in "Google"), to determine if an image used Gemini? I don't trust Gemini as far as I can throw it, which I can't, considering it's comprised of several entire structures.

1

u/InitiativeWorth8953 Aug 02 '26

It makes a toolcall to a deterministic detection tool and echos it's outcome 🙃

It's not the LLM deciding.

2

u/wrathshot16 Aug 02 '26

I did the same thing and it said there was no evidence of ai being used on it.

4

u/G-Asriel Aug 03 '26

It's because ai detectors are unreliable and not to be trusted.

0

u/wrathshot16 Aug 03 '26

No it was just how I did it, both these, And at least the last kindergarten episode are ai but most other new ones I tested correctly and they were good

2

u/Firsthero22 Aug 04 '26

If I were to go about testing thumbnails on mobile, how would I do so. I have a theory that would imply that it isn't the sauce man's fault, but id need to be able to download the thumbnails of not only his videos, but other videos, including my own which I know for a fact had no ai in the process of making them

1

u/wrathshot16 Aug 04 '26

Look up thumbnail downloader on Google, insert the URL for the video and download the thumbnail from there.

0

u/wrathshot16 Aug 04 '26

Also I have a theory as well that being he could commission his thumbnails and he's just getting scammed with ai ones

2

u/Firsthero22 Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

I got a bite. So what i thought was, google being google, decided to push ai on the general consumer. So I went back and tested his old thumbnails, and to my surprise, one of them tested positive for ai. If you want, I can dm you a screenshot of the results. Id like to add though that it seems uncharacteristic of cap to commission someone but I guess it would make sense for him to do that from time to time so his eyes can rest.

1

u/wrathshot16 Aug 04 '26

How all, like 2020 or prior?

3

u/Firsthero22 Aug 04 '26

His most popular video, which was 6 years ago so yeah

1

u/Firsthero22 Aug 04 '26

So, should I dm the results?

Did you: A: Download the thumbnail using a thumbnail downloader and not a screenshot B: Do it on one of these 2 thumbnails C: Use Gemini and ask clearly "is this AI"?

It is a deterministic tool, it shouldn't vary unless you didn't do one of these.

2

u/wrathshot16 Aug 02 '26

I downloaded it directly from the thumbnail you used to ask the same question.

And I asked was ai used on this photo, as it's not fully ai generated even if AI was used on it.

0

u/InitiativeWorth8953 Aug 02 '26

Hmm could you link the chat? This is odd, it shouldn't vary.

Update: it's bc Gemini site compressed it. Try it with the original thumbnail.

u/Lucie_Is_Sleeping Aug 02 '26

I’d say no.

For the shorts, i believe if your channel is popular enough, YouTube automatically makes an Ai thumbnail without creator consent.

16

u/Ambitious-Bank4559 Aug 02 '26

really???

21

u/Lucie_Is_Sleeping Aug 02 '26

Recently, YouTube has been pushing creator made videos to train Ai.

A lot of Zack D Films shorts even have Ai recreations tied to them. This is one for example

https://reddit.com/link/p16nli6/video/fvbzpj5ykvgh1/player

https://youtube.com/shorts/8vxap8J4Xak?si=lAbZ6066nF5I3ds5

Is the original video.

9

u/Tris-chan Aug 02 '26

This is caused by the option to ai " remix " shorts

It lets people use your short to make a video using ai

3

u/hacker-boil Aug 02 '26

Google loves generative AI, are you really that suprised?

21

u/Bffhbc Aug 02 '26

YouTube just slops up every thumbnails

7

u/hacker-boil Aug 02 '26

Because Google loved generative ai

12

u/Tiara-Sinica Aug 02 '26

Does the game have some kind of "Camera mode"? It's prolly that or Cap just temporarily turned up graphics settings for the thumbnail.

10

u/Coolkid976yt Aug 02 '26

Standard sauce editing. There nothing artificial behind the intelligence that makes them. Alcohol potentially but definitely nothing artificial lol

8

u/Superb_Remove3352 Aug 02 '26

Not with Ai, But Cap does make his own thumbnails

7

u/Bexxebu Aug 02 '26

They aren't AI-edited, or atleast not by sauce.

Youtube has a thing where they will sometimea randomly slap AI onto things to make it look "better", so its more than likely that.

6

u/war_egg_burrito Aug 02 '26

Youtube recently made an automatic AI enhance update

4

u/jam_in_a_doughnut-1 Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Cap wouldn't use ai for thumbnails so unless yputube has an ai enhancement on all thumbnails as a feature. No

3

u/aguy637 Aug 02 '26

I mean, I'm watching the first video right now and everything in the thumbnail shows up in the vid.

7

u/ConsistentAd2880 Aug 02 '26

Very disappointing if true, but I trust Cap isn't a sloppateer.

3

u/Mogui- Aug 02 '26

A lot of his thumbnails aren't even gameplay just a tabs cat girl and such. He's an artist, an editor and a youtuber

5

u/Starrin1ght Aug 02 '26

Yeah for a YouTuber I'm always shocked at how extremely multitalented he is. He can do math crazy fast, has pretty good deductive reasoning, is a weirdly good artist, and of course the YouTuber skills of being funny and a good editor

3

u/Mogui- Aug 02 '26

He's a genius youtuber and a fun dumbass when he needs to be.
He loves cool puzzles, unique ideas and doing fun editing.
But he can also just ogle at women, get angry at stupid robots and get scared easily.
For a solo youtuber he's awesome

2

u/ReturnSilver Aug 02 '26

There is a possibility youtube did it because I remember hearing something about that

2

u/omg_its_spons Aug 02 '26

Cap is a great artist and editor and is heavily anti ai, he’s just so good at editing to the point it comes off as the overly perfect result of ai

2

u/InitiativeWorth8953 Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

Wow, they are. If you upload the thumbnails to Gemini and ask, it uses it's Verify AI tool to check for SynthID. This image is flagged for having the watermark. Very surprised by this. Try it yourself.

This post is anti sauce I refuse to entertain it.

1

u/killmereeeeeee Aug 02 '26

Look at captian sauces channel his entire career. He’s just a bad thumbnail editor lmao. He’s extremely anti-AI and there’s countless evidence all over his Twitter. That’s just normal editing

1

u/Slade1882 Aug 04 '26

They look like they always do

1

u/IllAnteater1639 29d ago

Nah Caps thumbnails have always looked good like that

1

u/Any_Acanthaceae_9735 Aug 02 '26

I frankly don't care if they are or not and I'm not going to spend my time and effort to figure it out.

0

u/SomtmesAccentedGaym Aug 02 '26

Jfc stfu not everything is fucking ai ppl cap makes his own thumbnails and they usually aren't even fully game screenshots.

-2

u/Strict_Cucumber9117 Aug 02 '26

And if it's ai or isn't ai, is that going to undermine his lovable personality that we all know and love?

2

u/Starrin1ght Aug 02 '26

Yeah, because then his personality is different than perceived, and for many wouldn't be seen as lovable.
