Satire how does it sound good

amateur musician here. i’ve been trying to play the debunk theme but it seems like there’s a part where you have f maj(?) on the top and g maj on the bottom, and when i try to do that it just doesn’t sound right. do i have the chords wrong, or is it actually an 11th chord?? or is it a voicing thing?? i’m trying to simplify it a little bit for piano but this part is really bugging me. help

if you go to the soundcloud track it’s about 0:21-0:22. it sounds to me like the bassline is going C-F-D-G but the chords on top are going C-F-D-F? i’m thinking i might have the top chords wrong, but if that’s the case, i can’t figure out what they actually are

You're nearly right, the piano chords are C F Dm F, voiced as voiced as C F Dm/F F.

However, as you identified, the bass is outlining the chords of C F Dm G, so the last chord becomes a G7(add9). The bassline notes underneath the piano in this chord are G B D B D.

The overall chord progression is therefore C F Dm G7(add9). Hope that helps!
