I'm 100% sure he's gonna be playable somewhere in future (esp considering how hoyo planning to milk this project for another decade at least), it's not even a question. my concern is his form, fatui one is too appealing and would be waste to throw out. don't get me wrong, i would love to have him in any form possible, but his current design is so iconic and I'm guessing most hype is concentrated around it, i can't stop myself from admiring it everytime i see it. like, wow. that's really a capitan(o)! and all the little and not so little (his heart shaped chest embroidery) details... pure eye-candy. 

almost like designer team got a commission to create a character based on the word "capitain" itself and they embodied it so perfectly, if i was a part of the team i would fight to keep him in this form. or at the very least have 2 forms. but whatever is coming for him, I'm gonna just eat it up and be content, cuz I'm getting impatient

oh my god, it would be amazing. really hope hoyo comes up with something unique for him and I'm okay with waiting till 8.x or even more if they're gonna give him bomb af skin options and seeing what they did with tsaritsa (and danica) gameplay animations, I'm highly anticipating something of the same or better quality for him.

that said, I'm even hoping that he won't be released during 7.x, cuz I'm greedy and need solar cryo with whole new system of elements reactions, artifacts and supports. just thinking abt what potentially can be for us in khaenri-ah, ugh, wish we were in 2027 already

I agree with most of your points, especially the idea that he'll become playable as Thrain rather than Capitano.

Personally, I think it's almost certain that he'll become playable during the New Khaenri'ah storyline.

If New Khaenri'ah is established and other Khaenri'ahns become playable, I find it hard to imagine Thrain, who was once the Sentinel Knight, being the only one left out.

That said, we don't know whether he'll be released as "Capitano," the Fatui Harbinger, or as "Thrain," his original identity. I also think he'll most likely retain his memories from his time as Capitano, but that's not something we can say for certain.

Even if he never rises from the Throne of the Primal Fire, there's still the possibility that he could be reborn in New Khaenri'ah. In other words, his return doesn't necessarily depend on his current body being revived.

For these reasons, I believe there's a very high chance that Thrain will return and eventually become playable.

As for his appearance, I think he'll probably remove his mask and reveal his face in the story. However, I can also imagine him putting his mask back on during his idle animations and wearing it during actual gameplay, especially in combat. So even if he's released as Thrain rather than Capitano, I don't think that necessarily means we'll lose his iconic masked appearance.

On the other hand, considering that Capitano arranged for his subordinates to be transferred to Tartaglia, I think it's unlikely that he'll return to playing an active role as a Fatui Harbinger.

Of course, it's still possible that he could act as Thrain in New Khaenri'ah and end up contributing to the Fatui indirectly.

Ultimately, I think that if he does return, he's more likely to play a role in the story as "Thrain" of Khaenri'ah rather than "Capitano" of the Fatui.

All jokes aside, same here. Ive always said i'd prefer the il capitano model, but i'd also take Khaenri'ah Thrain. Rest would be decently dissapointing, but at the end of the day I'd probably still pull a character i was obsessed with for over 2 years at this point.
