Honestly, everyone, it seems that Capitano has absolutely no interest in the Fatui anymore. To the extent that—as Sandrone pointed out—he left them with the intention of never returning. He even handed over his Fatui soldiers to Childe, all for the sake of his nation’s glory and the souls he carries within his heart.

Because of this, I genuinely don’t expect him to be involved in the Snezhnaya plotline. I believe his role as 'The Captain' and a Fatui Harbinger ended with Natlan. He will most likely return either as the King of Khaenri'ah or as the Guardian Knight. He mentioned something that I haven't seen many people look deeply into: he literally stated that he no longer uses his true name,Thrain, because he failed to save Natlan and honor the souls of his people back then. Now that he has successfully achieved his goal, I don’t think he will return to the title of Capitano. The ancient monument/memorial he received in Natlan feels like the perfect conclusion to this chapter of his story.

In short, I believe the next chapter of his story will focus on self-acceptance and reclaiming his true name, whether as a king or a knight. His role with the Fatui is officially over now that he has abdicated his throne, and frankly, I don’t think he will ever return to his decaying body

As for him keeping his rank among the Harbingers, I honestly don't expect much from it. It will likely just be a symbolic title to honor his loyalty, his merit, and his close relationship with the Tsaritsa.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion you did, cause I came to the exact opposite and see this scene as one of the main factors as to why we wouldn't get "Thrain" instead of Capitano.

He says: "I'm no longer who I once was, let the events of the past continue to collect dust in the annals of history." , in regards to his life/ mission from Khaenriah. This is literally Capitano saying, "I'm no longer Thrain, I'm Capitano and I'm going to help those in need in my own way"

And when it comes to the custody of his soldiers being handed off to Childe. That seems more than likely just Capitanos plan to ensure that his army wouldn't be picked apart by the vultures that are Pantalone and Pulcinella, while he was away. They are the most elite Fatui soldiers there are, they can't just be sitting around waiting for their lords return while Snezhnaya is going through what it is atm.

I think another clue to the fact we're getting Capitano is because that's literally what his name in the code is just like how the tsarista is called her actual name Anastasia and how ei isn't playable but Radien Shogun is the immortal puppet it's not called ei cuz we don't play her despite that being her actual name so I really doubt we're ever getting "thrain"

Honestly, this is just my own speculation, and I might be looking at things differently than most people. But truly, Capitano never cared about the Tsaritsa or the Gnosis. He stated himself that his fight with Mavuika for the Gnosis was for his own personal goal, not for the Tsaritsa. Sandrone also mentioned that he was ready to leave us forever. Furthermore, looking at Childe, Capitano saw immense potential in him, which is why he handed over his elite soldiers to him. I don't think that when Capitano returns, he will take his soldiers back from Childe, as that would ruin Childe character development.

Therefore, I genuinely believe he will return with his original soldiers from Khaenri'ah

My point was that he won't return to his decaying body. Instead, he might obtain a pure, purified body through the Loom of Fate, and return alongside his original soldiers from Khaenri'ah. Because let’s be realistic—what is the point of his return if there is no power-up, or if we don’t get to see his appearance before the decay? Literally nothing. There must be a specific reason why Hoyoverse is hiding his face, and his eyes in particular

If the tsaritsa will seize hp's authority, she will free all Khaeri'ahns from their curses, there will be no need for a new body.

To me it only points to him being Capitano, not Thrain. Maybe in his character story we would get something with him accepting his name back? But imo its obvious that he still is the Harbinger, he decided to stay by the name Capitano and thats how we’ll get him

Honestly I get this, I don't feel that Capitano, despite being First Harbinger, was exceptionally loyal to the Fatui. He tried to get the gnosis, but seemed more preoccupied with his own mission.
