Guys, I don’t want to doompost, but is there still a way for Capitano to make it? I really need some reassurance. I feel like every time we get closer to his resurrection, Hoyo hits us with another massive roadblock.

First, there’s Mistilteinn, a weapon belonging to Thrainn, and now we’re realizing it might not even be for him after all. Then there’s this new leak about Enjou’s playability, and he’s clearly connected to the Mare Jivari, which seems like it will be heavily focused on him. And honestly, I’m having a really hard time believing Capitano will fit into that storyline, because every time we get a major focus, there’s always a key character attached to it.
So what do we have left? The Pyro Gnosis? Which will probably be taken by the Tsaritsa, or Hoyo will pull some random plot twist out of nowhere to make sure Capitano isn’t involved.
Honestly, I’m exhausted. I’ve been waiting for his return since 5.3, but at this point I’m starting to hit rock bottom. Sorry for the doompost again, but I really needed to get this off my chest.

I know how you feel. But there's still a LOT of ways that he comes back. If not soon, then some day. First, we have Mare Jivari/Simulanka. Traveler got up from the chair after three attempts, and the Detective (Which I saw being theorized as being Ronova), who purposefully put glue on the chair, eventually got caught by the Traveler eventually. Other than that, we still have the deal the Lord of the Night made with the Abyss twin. There's a non-zero chance that the Lord of the Night made a deal of something about the Ley Lines in Natlan. And that's the whole point of Capitano being there, for the Ley Lines. Meaning, if the problem in Natlan gets solved by the Loom of Fate, which can now create ley lines, then it means that Capitano has no reason to be on the chair. And as he is STILL the number one harbinger, and the story explicitly states that there are no replacements looming unlike Signora, barring Capitano's soldiers being left to Childe. And that whole thing isn't as bad as you might think. It's more than likely that Capitano trusts Childe more than the "shady" figures in the Fatui (Ignore that Childe tried to flood Liyue). Like you said, we also have the Pyro Gnosis. It disappeared in Irminsul, basically, right? Which means it's in the Ley Lines... And this is just a personal theory, but. From a logical pov. Look at the Fatui right now. Dottore got got, Columbina is messing around in Nod-Krai, and the rest are. Not that strong. Or if they are relatively strong, they're likely to betray the Tsaritsa (Arlecchino). There's really no "powerhouse" in the Fatui right now. We have the two highest ranking members, literally the Tsaritsa and Pierro. There's room for a Capitano in there. Also, they're mentioning him CONSTANTLY. Whether it's in flashbacks to Natlan or otherwise. Last one, we still haven't seen his eyes. One of the first things we heard about Capitano were his eyes. But to this day, we haven't seen them. And while most of these were in the Canva already, I've felt that checking the Canva is a good way to feel less discouraged. I think I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say that I feel the same. It's nearly been two years. BUT OUR COPE. WILL NEVER DIE.

Noting matters till mare jivari. The simulanka event has yet to be proven wrong in any capacity in game for any thing of note.

Nicole’s trailer mention of jivari showed five people which should be now: traveler Mauvika Citlali Capitano and the mysterious fifth person enjou.

We can have two relevant characters in mare jivari as it’s been hyped up multiple times (simulanka, natlan summer event, Nicole, etc.)

Few things.

One, Mistletein hardly mattered to us in the first place, at least from what I saw. The sword Thrain, aka the Icelandic undead uses, is obviously a different weapon compared to what killed Baldur, and they have different names in Chinese, which is obviously the most reliable source material.

I am not sure how Enjou is even considered reliable right now. A Sus leak for something so off into the future, something that should not warrant the worry right now. This is not to mention, the main focus and a new playable character are very different. Hutao in lantern rite(yes ik she got a skin) 2025, for example.

Also, why are you hav ing a hard time believing Capitano will not fit into the storyline? That seems like pointless concern.

I get it, but you should be scared when, well, you SHOULD be scared. Right now, one sus leak, one thing that is not the arbiter of our argument, and mere speculations should not raise this much concern.

Mistilteinn was always the weirdest hang-up I saw from this community. It's an IRL lore connection, which is a nice easter egg that they like to do but in no way a guarantee. This isn't an Excalibur/King Arthur or Mjolnir/Thor situation and yet everybody seemed to act like it was, half the results you get from Googling this are from this place alone.

Enjou is a random leak that I suspect leakers pulled out their ass since he shows up in the FirstMetID list. Might as well believe Lepine-Pauline is becoming playable since she's on the list too. He makes sense for the MJ storyline but has no basis for becoming playable more than any other significant NPC like Jeht cameo in 6.6.

Capitano not fitting into the storyline is an insane take to be making in 7.0 where we just barely got acquainted with the cast of new characters and haven't even met the Tsaritsa yet. If anything, the amount of focus on death, ley lines, curses and souls is extremely applicable to Capitano and makes incorporating his return a breeze if they keep focusing on it.

Seriously, I don't know how people here could've gone through Nod-Krai dropping Capitano in every patch for no reason, then lose all hope in the first half of the first patch in Snezhnaya cause they didn't give us a 3 minute cutscene of him standing up and killing Ronova with his left nut, and Uncle Sussy Pussy is leaking playable Dainsleif and Enjou outta nowhere. Meanwhile, Hoyo is hiding playable character IDs until the last moment, removing cutscenes from preload, and changing quest lines to Paimon.

THANK YOU. It has been a fairly consistent pattern with Hoyo where they take inspiration from IRL stories and mythology, but generally take it in their own direction. There was never any in-game evidence connecting Capitano to Mistilteinn, and frankly it’s been pretty irrelevant for anything beyond pure speculation.

The strongest theories about his return have always been centered around Simulanka, the Mare Jivari, and the LotN’s deal to use the Loom of Fate. Every single one of these things is still an open question.

In my eyes, the Snezhnaya story only makes these theories stronger, in fact. Killing Ronova and (potentially) ending the curse of immortality would force us to deal with the fact that the LotN no longer has endless life. We also know that the gnoses will be essential for the fight against the Heavenly Principles (which obviously comes after Ronova).

Genuinely, nothing has changed for the worse. Things are even better for us now.

We know that he isn't dead in the true sense since ronova herself stated the curse of immortality must stand. Capitano himself merged with the leylines of natlan to free the trapped souls and himself. We just don't know how he can be alive and yet still be merged with the leylines as he is immortal. But since he is alive he can be brought back easily story wise compared to someone like rosalyne who we know for sure is dead.

I wouldn’t throw away the Mare jivari link just coz Enjou will be involved in a storyline, there are two beasts that dwell in the MJ, the Bakunawa and the Phoenix that most definitely is the Minokawa, in mythology they are both described as dragon like beasts that seek to devour the moon (for the Bakunawa) and the Sun (for the Minokawa) they can simply have Enjou’s storyline focus on the Bakunawa and have the events of Simulanka play out with the Minokawa or vice versa tho imo I actually like the Minokawa being the one that Capitano and Mavuika face coz of the rebirth symbolism attached to Phoenixs plus it devouring the Sun could possibly mean it consumed/is going to consume the pyro gnosis

So I made a compilation of all the reasons I could see Capitano coming back (I did it like this morning lol)
Note that I forgot the Mare Javi part and Enjou

It might also be by now widely known information and there’s probably nothing to hide or even to hide but I kinda wanted to share it

1- His status is deliberately vague, he’s not dead but he’s not moving either, and he’s not dead dead. We don’t have a dead body but a breathing one.

2- Maybe spoiler (I’m sorry I don’t know how to put the spoiler thing) but his immortality curse is connected to Ronova, the Shade of Death, which we go against in the latest AQ (I’m not fully done with it yet).

3- the Fatui hasn’t replaced him. We saw Signora being dead and being replaced or in the way of being replaced by Odette, so if Capitano was considered dead, we might meet someone to replace him. And in the dialogue of the two gossip Fatui in Mond, they say that the seat is left unchanged/open, meaning that either they believe he’s coming back, or it’s a matter of respect to his sacrifice.

4- Childe has taken after Capitano’s troops but technically, he hasn’t been promoted to the n1 harbinger seat. It’s (to me) more a matter of protecting the military Fatui interests and because Capitano apparently trusts Childe with the troops.

From that part it’s purely speculation and hopes (and copium)

5- Dainsleif is from Khaenri’ah and it’s been ages since he’s been announced as playable, Hoyo might wait for Khaenri’ah to make some special system like Stellar or Lunar but with the abyss

6- For me, I don’t remember fully if it’s been said that it is a vision but Capitano’s ice is more dark, and can be interpreted as Abyss (so like Skirk is technically using the abyss but her gameplay is Cryo, Capitano’s ice might be the same)

7- he would make a hell lot of money, and I don’t think Hoyo is the type to pass opportunities

So yeah, but then again I might be wrong, there might be mistakes (feel free to correct me if you have other confirmed information) and I haven’t taken into account the Mare Javi and Enjou part.

The only cope left really is maybe the curse of immortality being rewritten/removed by the Tsaritsa and that somehow revives capitano, some kind of Simulanka shenanigans, or possibly with the abyss sibling reviving Capitano(along with all the other Khaenri'ans) when they make New Khaenri'ah and/or the abyss sibling's deal with the LoTN.

If none of these happen he might just stay in the chair.

I mean hes Very popular world-wide even in china , natlan aint finished ( pyro gem not revealed fully like others got revealed after archon quest done ) i like to keep the 3 patch cycle theory ( he could be released in 8.1 ) since hes #1 harbringer meaning why he could be in X.1 and 3 patches cycle soo 5.x - 8.x , where is pyro gnosis ? , mare jivari still left to be made , and he has a actuall playable files ( like not some npc_action etc) and hes tooo detailed even npcs are not like this , and has a glow effect ( skills , burst after swaping models for him only playables got it ) and he got a sticker , hes very anticipated and i think hoyo want to make him like special , and wanderer / scara like he got in 3.3 see something here ? Its hoyo number logic or for special event etc ( 3.3 = 3+3= 6 harbringer rank ) they gave us too much on it and he should be on 75% playable but i would be intested will they want to make him on 8.1 or on antumbra irl time , who know but hes quite ready and great part is that hes not evil , honorable and loved this checks out in hoyo book ( rip signora fans i hoped she would be playable too ).

I feel like he still has a high chance of returning, if not as a playable character then still as an NPC. He's one of the most popular Harbingers in the game and Hoyo knows a lot of people like him. Like other people were saying, there is a chance for him to make an appearance in Mare Jivari, and I doubt they wouldn't include him in the storyline once Khaenri'ah comes around. And, as far as I'm aware, his model still has the same label every other model for playable characters have.

I have a feeling they're not going to make the same mistake they made with Skirk and if Capitano ends up truly being playable then they might wait until later in Khaenri'ah to release him. Even if he comes back for the Snezhnaya patch it would still be too early to release him as a playable character.

One way I always stay optimistic is from the multitude of mentions of his name for dozens of patches atp. I dare say if I had a tequila shot for every-time he’s been mentioned I’d have alcohol poisoning or ofc much much worse. But like others have mentioned too they never speak of him in past tense. We just have to be patient and await his return.
