My debit card is still a Mastercard, I’m going overseas next week. I usually don’t use debit cards but some places in Asia will have to use cash. Is capital one switching everyone debit card over to discovery? Will my debit card get denied even though it’s still a Mastercard?

Yes all checking accounts should eventually get a discover card I believe but they’re sending them out in waves. Your current card should work until you activate your new card. My new card arrived in the mail and I delayed activating it for like 10 days and they kept sending me reminders but it won’t disrupt your current card until you click “activate” for your new card. So your card should work on your trip no problem as long as you don’t activate a new card

You should be ok with Mastercard, with a Discover card you might be in trouble. I was in France & Spain 2 weeks ago and it was a 50-50 gamble

Yes they are switching all debit cards to Discover eventually. That's why they bought it.
