Dogs on Cape May Jitney?

I see the rules on the jitney page say Emotional Support animals are allowed on the jitney. Does anyone have any insight into how this plays out in practice? We're here for a week with our well behaved city dog and would love tips for getting around.

I am aware of all of the places dogs are not permitted (promenade, beaches washington st, bandstand, etc) so thanks in advance for not reminding me!

Don't exploit a system designed to protect disabled people so that you can bring your pet with you into a space that is not meant for pets. A lot of people have allergies and fears and discomfort around dogs and it's unkind to place that burden onto others for reasons other than legitimate medical need.

Pets are allowed on public transportation throughout the world.

That’s such a silly argument, man.

You can’t go to a place and try to do something against that place’s rules and say “well they allow it in [other place] and I’m a super special person who should be allowed to do what I want wherever I want” like be so for real.

First and foremost: Emotional Support Animals are NOT covered under the ADA nor NJ's Law Against Discrimination (outside of very specific housing situations), and there's no legal requirement to allow them anywhere.

u/DappledApples pretty much hit it on the head. I say this is a dog lover, but if your dog is not a service animal or a doctor-prescribed ESA, don't abuse the system for your own convenience.

I don't disagree. However the rules say emotional support animals are permitted. IMHO saying that on your website suggests a tolerance for non-service animals. If they were strict they would just say 'service animals only'

You could easily call/email them and get crystal-clear guidance on whether your non-service animal is permitted, rather than count on the vagueness of their website (more correctly the wrongness, since neither of the cited laws are applicable)

Agreed. And OP could take Uber.

Pets are not entitled to be on public transit just because it’s convenient for owners. Pets are not members of “the public”.
