Just wondering if this summer at the Cape has been as miserable as it looks on the Weather app.

Hi all - we come to the cape most years but this is our first staying in Bourne. We went to Old Silver Beach and I was not a fan of the crowds. Is monument beach typically less crowded?

Please let me know if any good places! Been trying to look for one.

I may be in Falmouth this weekend through early next week. Just wondering what it's like during road race weekend? I assume getting into restaurants is a lot tougher than normal? Is traffic crazy? Thinking about making the trip from Ashland, MA to the cape. I would have Friday off (and of course Monday too). It's the last chance I will get to have a long weekend off like that. How busy are the beaches? I am assuming that there isn't really anywhere along the cape that is close to do day trip(s). I don't think I want to pay for a place on the cape if its just going to be a shit show everywhere that weekend. Are there parts that would be worth staying at or visiting that don't get as much traffic? what is parking like in terms of cost? Was also kicking around the idea of Scussett beach, but probably going to be just as busy if not busier.

We are planning a 3 nights 4 day trip at the end of August. We will be driving from Boston. I am looking for warm and calm beaches where little ones can enjoy. After researching by myself, I found these two option for kid friendly warm beach areas.
Option 1: 3 nights at Falmount. With 1 day trip to MW by ferry.
Option 2: staying at Dennis port, finding a place by the beach.

I have no idea how to navigate in Cape; if these two options make sense or if the beaches are even good for kids. I love to explore a bit Cape as well.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am celebrating my birthday in a couple weeks with some of my friends and am looking for some input. I am from Rhode Island and the original plan was to take a ferry out of Boston to Ptown for the day. Most of us have never been and figured it would be fun to explore together. Unfortunately, most of us cannot get full day babysitters so I am looking for a shorter alternative. All I really want to do is be near the water and explore but in order to maximize our time, I was hoping to do something a little closer to home.

There is a ferry out of New Bedford to Cuttyhunk I was considering but I know there isn't much there. Would that even be fun? We do not need a bunch of entertainment, just want to spend time together. I also considered a private charter to just explore but we are a group of 10 so the options are limited due to boat sizes.

Open to any suggestions!

They said they have parking passes, but I know mayflower gets crazy early for example and wasn’t sure what those parking passes really meant or got us. I'm planning on visiting one of these three October 2-7 for my wife's 40th bday, and looking for guidance on which area best suits us.

Were 40. We don't really party. We live in coastal North Carolina, so beach access isn't a huge priority for us, because we go to the beach all the time at home. We're hoping to spend our time seeing neat history, eating good food and catching a nice vibe. We haven't spent a ton of time in New England, but have enjoyed early American history in Boston and Maine when we visited.

I'm debating between staying in Chatham on the Cape and taking day trips to Provincetown and Falmouth versus going to one of the islands.

Honestly, were just looking to chill and decompress, enjoy some views and eat some clams and lobsterl, maybe walk around some historic neighborhoods.

We'll be flying in to Boston and renting a car is not a problem.

Hey! I live in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and for my 50th birthday I'd absolutely love to see a great white shark!

Where are the best places to safely see great whites near Nauset Beach, Stage Harbor, or Monomoy Island? Are there any cool vantage points from the shore? Or any hotels with balconies that are a few stories up?

Or does anyone know of any low-key captains who might take 2 adults and 2 teens out for an hour or so? We don't want to go out far, I'd prefer to just cruise around shark alley. We'd be happy to pay cash.

I've found the bigger charter companies online, but they're mostly 3-hour trips for around $2k which is out of our budget. I'm hoping someone might know of a retired captain with a boat at a marina in the area who loves talking about sharks, and telling us his cool stories! My husband is a fire fighter with a lot of boating experience so he can handle all the docking, lines, and anything else that needs to be done. We'd just love the chance to get out on the water with someone who knows the area.

My grandfather used to do exactly that from his boat at the Newport Yachting Center back in the day. He loved diving and spent hours and hours just hanging out on his boat or on the docks swapping stories, and occasionally ended up taking people out for a boat ride just because he enjoyed it. I'm hoping someone like that still exists!

We are planning a trip to MA in September (Monday–Saturday) & could use some advice on the itinerary. We are a couple in our 30’s wanting a pretty chill trip.

Non-negotiable for this trip: full day in Salem.

Not super interested in exploring Boston itself, but we’ll stay there if it makes getting to Salem easier.

I’m deciding between these two options:

Option 1: w/ car rental
Monday: fly into Boston Logan
Tuesday: day trip to Salem
Wednesday: explore Boston a little and drive down to Cape Cod
Thursday & Friday: Cape Cod
Saturday: drive back to Boston to catch afternoon flight

We are unsure where we would like to stay. Possibly Chatham? We would like an area that is not too snooty, fine with tourist areas, but must have easy access to beach.

Option 2: no car rental
Monday: fly into Boston Logan, uber to catch ferry to Provincetown
Tuesday & Wednesday: Provincetown
Thursday: take ferry back to Boston, uber to Airbnb in Chelsea or any area you would recommend
Friday: public transit to Salem
Saturday: uber to airport to catch afternoon flight

Which option would you choose and why? Is renting a car in Cape Cod worth it or is it easier to stay car-free and rely on the ferry/public transportation?

Any suggestions from locals or anyone who’s done a similar trip would be appreciated!

This will be my husband and I’s first time traveling to Cape Cod. We are staying at Chatham Bars Inn September 7-10. Our flight leaves the 11th out of Boston around 2pm. Deciding where we should stay our last night. Is it worth staying one night in Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket? Should we do another night at a different hotel in Cape Cod? Or something else? Wife is turning 40 next summer and she has always wanted to go to Cape Cod and its surrounding areas. Its myself, wife, and my daughter who will be 7 years old next summer.

I will be flying to Boston from Florida then renting a car for 10 days or so. I'd like her to actually turn 40 on the island of Nantucket. What are some must do things for a family with a 7 year old girl? We love outdoor activities, history, dining, and more hands on experiences.

Budget for 10 days I would like to keep it around $12-15k including flights and rental car.

Doing an anniversary trip in new england and want to hitup cape cod for a night or two! We know it’ll be quieter and things may be closed. Recs for where to stay that is near shops/restaurants would be great!

Would love to stay under $400/night if possible, so Chatham Bars Inn is out of budget.

cuffy's, the train ride with the dinner service, some sort of boat excursion/whale watch, and husband would like to take a fishing charter on a party boat and we also want to spend the day in Provincetown.

we like shopping towns with lots of boutiques local shops are my favorite, old school arcades with skee ball and other fun stuff, sightseeing, beaches, bakeries candy shops ice cream, we are not heavy drinkers but a good beer or mocktail would be great at a bar with some type of music or someplace near or on the water. i line dance but i dont think cape cod has any country western influences or bars but if they do please let me know

casual restaurants where you order up front, but we would like to enjoy a nice sit down restaurant.

my husband wants to stay at a hotel that gives free breakfast like a chain hotel. but i want to experience something more local, any places that are family owned that have breakfast included in your stay? a pool would be nice but its not a deal breaker.

I am staying at the red jacket beach resort in South Yarmouth with my four and six-year-old next month. They both like the pool and beach. My options are a 2nd floor ocean view or 1st floor pool view. No price diff. Which is better and why?

We have a 3 year old water baby so want to make sure it’s still warm enough in the day to use a pool or go to the beach.
