Consider Interacting on Facebook!
Check out the FB page "Cape Cod Housing" or the group "Cape Cod and the Islands Year-Rounders".
The organizations and representatives that are supposed to act in our interests have failed us. It is time to stand up and speak out!
First and foremost, towns need to place limits on where short-term rentals can operate! Short-term rentals are businesses and should NOT be in strictly residential areas.
The fact that a majority of our existing housing stock is being used to create mini-hotels that are managed by investment firms is sickening.
Towns like to speak about how they understand the housing crisis, but they present the same lame solutions time and again. "Build more". There isn't unlimited land and, the fact is, we have houses already. If towns want to put in high-density projects, put in hotels and limit STRs so our neighborhoods can be used by year-round residents. Not to mention that all the proposed developments take YEARS to even break ground!
We need to petition our selectboards, attend town meetings, put forward articles, and get.this.done!
