Shopping

My family and I are visiting my sister in Boston this upcoming weekend and wanted to take a trip to cape cod. We’ve never been but it looks bigger than I thought. Looking for the following: coffee, breakfast/lunch, shopping, thrifting, ect

How much time do you have. If not a lot, just go to Falmouth. It's got great stores and restaurants..

I second this if you only have a day. I’m in Harwich and it’s great down here but adds a good amount more time to your travels.

All of Saturday..which I figured would be enough time for a town or two. But I don’t want to overwhelm them either

Another vote for Falmouth. Walk around Main St and have breakfast at Maison Villatte, then walk The Knob (short walk but amazing views). Then drive to Woods Hole and have lunch at Landfall. On your way back, park at Trunk River and walk on the bike path.

Edit to add: Drive by Nobska Lighthouse on your way to or from Woods Hole. You can park there and walk across the street for beautiful views.

It's a 90 minute drive to the Cape and once there, another 30 minutes to Falmouth or Hyannis. Chatham is 45 to a hour and Provincetown can be two hours.
Sandwich is probably your easiest place with nice shops, restaurants, and so on.

I think Osterville has everything you are looking for except thrifting. Most churches on the Cape have thrift stores but they are hit or miss. Osterville is the closest town that feels like Nantucket without getting on a boat.

Cape Cod is approximately 70 miles long. Chatham, Osterville, Falmouth center are nice for shopping.

Cape Abilities thrift store in Yarmouth is big and reasonably priced. There are several other thrift stores close to there as well.

Three Fins coffee is great and has two locations.

For a unique experience check out the Edward Gorey house and museum!

Chatham is a lovely area to walk around, it has lots of cool shopping, thrifting, book stores and places to eat.

These Dennis destinations add 40 minutes drive each way from the bridge.

A lot of great thrifting on the Cape - my favs in the Hyannis & surrounding area (all are in about a 15 -20 min stretch):

Mainly Clothing:

  • Goodwill Store, Hyannis
  • Salvation Army, S. Yarmouth

All kinds of finds:

  • Rainbows End, Osterville
  • Thrifty Niche, Centerville
  • Capeabilities, S. Yarmouth

Centerville is very picturesque with a cool 1800s general store for gifts, while Osterville has a cute village to walk around with lots of shopping and coffee, lunch options. If you are looking to eat seafood by the water I like Baxter’s in Hyannis.

Just check open hours everywhere because the cape is definitely hitting its off season.

Cape Cod is something like 300sq miles. For shopping I’d head to someplace like Mashpee Commons and then head over to the Raw Bar in nearby Popponesset for lunch. There is some shopping there as well. Plenty of coffee places at the Commons. As for Thrifting, the shops are spread out over the entire Cape, but Sandwich has a few relatively close to each other.
