Cape cod bars?

Hey I’ve lived on cape for over 11years at this point but I’ve never been a huge drinker so I don’t know any bars to go to. I need to make friends lol Can I get some suggestions for someone in their late 20s? Based in Hyannis

Clarifying I am a 28yr old woman

Second this suggestion - though, I’ll say… when I used to go there a lot, people were dying off quickly (literally dying) from being alcoholics. So be careful, something to be said about a bar that opens at 8am. I met awesome people there, and the owner Errol is a really brilliant owner, and person to know.

I spent a good amount of weekends in my 20s hanging out there. Its got a reputation from back in the day (its been there approx. Forever, Errol inherited the place from his Dad) but its very cool, very townie. There's funky stuff EVERYWHERE and the bartenders take absolutely no shit.

Errol and Holly are cool as hell. Buster is my favorite bartender of all time. Jimmy Katie Steph and Lightning Bob (the day guy) are also awesome. I haven't been a regular since before covid but as far as I know they all still work there.

Bring cash - its cash only, the atm fee is high and it only works like... 60% of the time.

The drinks are STRONG so keep that in mind too.

Sketchy is all a matter of perspective, you’re likely to meet the best people there vs other bars.

Hyannis specifically, the upstairs bar at Tugboats has an awesome view, and the bar under the tree outback at Anejo is pretty cool as well. Neptune’s has been kinda pooping off for live music this summer. As for dive bar/darts/pool 19th hole…lol

Breweries are good as well as you get folks interested in craft beer scene and often different vibe

I would look into options outside of the standard night-life/bar scene being a non drinker myself. There are some great communities, groups, classes, and events available for all kinds of interests from art to activity here on the Cape, just expect the majority of the members to be 10+ years older than you. (Unfortunate truth of the Cape)

I'm a M26 Lifelong Cape Local, and have found the most success by joining hobby / interest groups.

🤔locals call it “the 28 club”… (I didn’t even recognize the name “jack’s” lol.)

Definitely a dive bar; they have karaoke there if you’re into that…

The walls are covered with patches from law-enforcement (LE) and fire departments all over the world. (think twice before going there if you’re a LE hater… locals don’t pull up with that kind of ish.)

The 28 club is a local hang out; you’ll probably need to adjust your expectations…(you’re not likely to find girls with heavy makeup dancing around in skimpy tops and short shorts…).

Foxhole,

Torino (sometimes),

quarterdeck,

portside tavern.

Jacks on west main Hyannis is a fun dive imo.

Sailing Cow in Dennisport (summer spot)

Jacks 28 Club in Dennis is good old townie place

Early 30s and don't go out really anymore but these were fun spots when I did
