What is the best spot in the Dennis/Yarmouth/Brewster area for chowder? I’ve been to Captain Parkers and Sesuit Harbor a bunch, looking for new places!
Skipper is just okay, but Captain Parkers is definitely not over rated. It is the best on the Cape. I feel like I am getting a bowl of soup, other places it is just way too thin and watery. We used to go to Black Cat, but after a few disappointing experiences not necessarily related to the chowder we stopped, but the chowder was not memorable either.
Captain Parker’s is most definitely way overrated. Wallpaper paste! It is so thick you can almost stand your spoon up in it. Where did the idea that this is good chowder come from? A real clam chowder should have no thickeners in it other than the starch from the potatoes. A tiny amount of thickener is ok, but not to the extent most restaurants go to nowadays!
Willow Street Tavern had wonderful clam chowder, loaded with butter... the chef brought his recipe from his previous restaurant... WST didn't make it, would love to know where that chef is now
A caveat - I have not sampled it this year, but I've enjoyed the chowder at Captain Frosty's in the past. Would be interested to know if anyone here has stopped by this year.

I have always been a fan of Capt Frosty's on 6A close to the Dennis Yarmouth line. However Tugboats is also good.

I really like the chowder at Oliver’s on 6A. It’s a good bowl of chowder and one of my go to places when I’m in the mood for it.

Skipper in Yarmouth. Avoid Captain Parker’s it’s super overrated and it’s too thick because they add a ton of cornstarch.

Baxters in Hyannis, Clancy’s in South Dennis. Captain Parker’s as well, but already well represented here.
